Pantene - It's PAN-TEN surely? Not PAN-TEEN as per this glam old ad.

Primark / Primark, Nestle / Nestle, let's call the whole thing off.

No-one knows how to pronounce L'Occitane, so.

BellMcEnd Sun 12-Mar-17 22:08:37

As soon as I saw this thread I thought it'd be about L'Occitane. My friend and I had a row about its correct pronounciation last night

TheWorldAccordingToToads Sun 12-Mar-17 22:11:38

I always thought L'Occitane was pronounced locks-see-tan.

My mum is obsessed with it and that's how she always pronounces it so I just go along with that grin

EustaceClarenceScrubb Sun 12-Mar-17 22:15:05

Braun is always mis-pronounced , it should be pronounced as brown. Don't get me started on Lidl!

ememem84 Sun 12-Mar-17 22:15:49

Isn't L'occitaine pronounced lockytayne? It's french isn't it (l'occitaine du Provence?)

I always thought it was Panten too.

StewieGMum Sun 12-Mar-17 22:16:38

'Panteen' is the North American pronunciation. Both are equally correct.

carrotcakecupcake Sun 12-Mar-17 22:17:03

In the States it's pronounced Pan-Teen, moving to the UK Pan-Ten always sounded weird to me. Bit like herbal essences; Americans don't pronounce the "h" so it's 'erbal essences.

www.google.co.uk/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=how+do+you+pronounce+L'Occitane&

Just had a Google and it looks like my mum's way is pretty close.

Pant-een in USA where they don't do French.

Obsidian77 Sun 12-Mar-17 22:18:19

It's Pan-ten here, Pan-teen in a lot of other markets.

MerryMarigold Sun 12-Mar-17 22:18:54

Cos Panténe sounds so much more sophisticated. Like L'Oréal. It's French innit. Maybe it's still Panteen (to rhyme what canteen!) in America. I dunno.

Obsidian77 Sun 12-Mar-17 22:19:05

By here I mean UK

Weedsnseeds1 Sun 12-Mar-17 22:19:26

Oh yes "I've got the urge to erbal" ...

MerryMarigold Sun 12-Mar-17 22:20:14

Erbal essences, for the weed smoker in your life!

Grilledaubergines Sun 12-Mar-17 22:20:18

toads that's how I pronounce it

GMOOH Sun 12-Mar-17 22:20:30

L'Occitane is loxitan.

tygr Sun 12-Mar-17 22:20:56

I say L'oss -i- ten in a slightly French accent.

Is that incorrect?!

LilacSpatula Sun 12-Mar-17 22:21:06

How much does a cockney pay for his shampoo?

Pound ten.

LilacSpatula Sun 12-Mar-17 22:21:36

Lockitan

Robstersgirl Sun 12-Mar-17 22:21:37

I'm so glad I got an answer and that I haven't been saying it wrong for years! I only came across it via googling Kelly Le Brock as I've just watched weird science grin

elQuintoConyo Sun 12-Mar-17 22:22:35

And Cilit Bang is also French, pronounced silly-bong.

228agreenend Sun 12-Mar-17 22:23:56

I always thought it was Pan-teen.

ijustwannadance Sun 12-Mar-17 22:23:59

The rep on qvc says lock-se-tan.
