Do you ever confront someone for a wrongdoing and then end up feeling embarrassed and like you have done something wrong?

Maybe I should just learn to keep my mouth shut and not say anything at all.

So as not to drip feed. A woman let her dog poo twice on the green outside my house (where I've had to ban my DS from playing because of all the dog shite) and was obviously not going to clear it up. I went out and shouted excuse me (was actually going to offer her nappy sacks which I had to hand) but she totally ignored me more than once so I yelled over "my son plays there that's disgusting that you aren't going to clear it up" and she walked off - and into a house on the other side of the green. She then came back out and cleared it up then headed off on her walk. I am assuming that she had no intention of originally clearing it up beens as she came out without bags before going off on a walk.

But why do I feel embarrassed that I confronted her and achieved what I set out to achieve?!

Anyway I guess my AIBU to confront people or should I just stf up?

I wish more people would shame dog owners who don't clean up after their dogs. It's a huge problem in our village.

I had an exam at uni the other day. The invigilators thought it acceptable to whisper whisper whisper to one another.
It was so incredibly distracting. I usually study in silence because my mind wanders if I can hear the telly/music/other people's conversation. I just couldn't focus in the questions and get my plan in order. So I had to tell them their whispering was really distracting and would they basically mind not. God I felt so rude though. Even though I was very apologetic and polite, I still felt like I was the one in the wrong! British problems me thinks.

If I were you, I'd be feeling uncomfortable in this situation because it isn't 100% clear whether or not she'd have picked up the poo if you hadn't have said anything. I think you, and I, need to carry on confronting people until we are no longer uncomfortable with it.

If she'd been caught by someone official she'd have been fined on the spot for not having poo bags on her, whether she was outside her house or not. I say well done you, she would surely have have just said to you she was going to clear it up if that was her intention all along.

I do try to avoid confrontation but sometimes see red and just have to say something but always end up either apologising for speaking up or feeling embarrassed and shaky - pathetic eh . Maybe you're right coffee and more practise is the answer

A responsible dog walker ALWAYS carries poo bags- I would say that she had no intention until you shouted at her- then you shamed her into doing it. Well done to you I say- I always think I'm going to tell people then shy away from it I am also a dog owner and would never leave the house without them(poo bags!) If a dog is not properly wormed it can be detrimental to a child's health (and adults if they are careless with hand washing/don't realise they have poo on their hands etc.) Please don't feel bad whatsoever. You did the right thing.

i got caught out without bags went home and went back to clean up sometimes your dog poops more than how many bags you take it does happen

Happened to me the other day.

Walking down a typical NZ suburban road, ie, tonnes of driveways leading to panhandles running off it. Child walks across entrance to panhandle, in front of motorist.

Motorist shouts at child: "Watch out for cars on driveways".

I shout at motorist: "Watch out for pedestrians on the pavement".

(cringe).
