AIBU?

To be disappointed with my engagment proposal?

I feel so silly writing this. In May last year just after a mc, my other half proposed. But I'm so disappointed in how he done it.
He had been stewing all day to do it (seen the box in his back pocket, pretended not to notice) eventually at 11pm, he woke me up told me he loved me and proposed there. So technically not even down on one knee.
I just feel so underwhelmed by it, I don't even like wearing the ring cause it reminds me of how badly done it was Blush

If it means that much to you, ask him to do it again.
Or, try and get over it. Those are your choices.

What would you have liked to happen? (I have to feel sorry for this guy, btw!)

You are fixating on the wrong thing.

Are you now married ?

Yabu, life isn't a fairytale

I think it's romantic that he finally couldn't wait any longer and woke you up to do it!

Really? Really? The fact that someone loves you enough to want to spend the rest of his life with you, to the exclusion of all others, isn't special enough?

I'm married. I've never been engaged or proposed to

Why has it taken you 10 months to write about it??? Did you really mean May last year?

Sorry for your loss with the mc

Oh don't be silly. This is real life not Instagram. The man you marry wants to marry you too. that's wonderful. Not everyone is so lucky. Get a grip, count your blessings and stop being so precious.

Not yet married, just had a baby 10 days ago.
Really harder? I sort of see it as, any longer and he would have changed his mind and not done it.
Not sure what I expected, a dinner out? A bath run? Just something that I didn't get

I'd have been mortified if DH had gone down on one knee. It's not the Middle Ages and he's not a verray parfit gentil knight he works in corporate finance, actually

V sorry about the mc, OP.

As for the proposal, where the man you love loves you too and wants to spend the rest of his life with you? as chandler bing once said: "my wallet's too small for my 50's and my diamond shoes are too tight"!!

glenthebattleostrich · 05/03/2017 19:07

This is probably more to do with hormones than anything else.

If it helps my 'proposal' was him grunting, well after this long I suppose we should go ring shopping.

YABU. In 20 years when you're married (if you're married), your engagement really won't matter. They're not important at all. Neither are weddings.

Well if he wasn't on one knee it doesn't count, so you are well within your rights to tell him to sling his hook and take his ring with him. A clumsy proposal is not legally binding.

Grin fgs just get on with your life.

I'm sorry but you need to get over it.

Getting married is about love, not production values.

My husband basically handed my engagement ring in the kitchen whilst I was washing up and said "do you want this".
That was it and I was over the moon. Why does it matter.
