AIBU?

To not turn lights on when I can see perfectly well?

Really minor AIBU but it's annoying!

If I need to nip into someone's home as part of my job and have to go upstairs I am accompanied by a chorus of 'TURN THE LIGHT ON!!'

I don't need to! It's daylight and I can see Confused

Do I have really good vision or something?

Maybe they are just offering? Like "just letting you know its ok to turn on the lights if you need"

No - they are pretty insistent to the point of being scary!

Has one of them tripped or fallen in the past and they don't want the same to happen to you? I'm capable of falling upstairs, downstairs and in my lady's chamber so safety first I'd say.

I had this as a district nurse. Just go with it. It's their house. It's better than being instructed never to knock the front door but to use the tradesman entrance round the back. Hmm

Sometimes though Do you're halfway up the stairs or they have a ridiculously complicated system of lights ... I wish they'd just trust I won't actually break my neck! Grin

Brew That's not necessarily an insult. I don't know if it's a thing in particular areas, but when I grew up, we almost never used the front door. Friends and family went in the side door, which went straight into the kitchen.

The front door would only be used in the event of weddings, funerals, maybe at Christmas, that sort of thing. Not day to day.
