AIBU?

Or Wibu to get my DM a Fitbit?

DM has had a tough time with her weight her whole life, been on every diet imaginable and eventually resorted to bariatric surgery.

She's losing weight but very slowly and it has been getting her down.

I got a Fitbit at the beginning of the year and have been using it to help me lose weight and been quite successful as it's just helped me be a lot more mindful of what I'm eating and how much I'm moving. We've discussed this and she seemed to think it was a great idea.

I recently saw one on sale and since Mother's Day is coming up I thought I might get it for her to help her along with her weight loss but it occurred to me it might seem insensitive and she might be upset to receive one. Wibu to get her one? Would you like to receive one?

Has she showed enthusiasm when you have talked about yours, or hinted that she would like one?

If yes, then go for it, but if not, I wouldn't. It could upset her is she is feeling sensitive.

She's commented on what a good idea it is etc when we've talked about it but no specific mention of wanting one.

She always been sensitive about it but just because she so desperately wants to lose the weight. She had been losing slowly but has recently put some back on so is feeling a bit miserable about it and I thought it might help her get back on track?

Mine motivated me to lose weight when I had to programme it. Hadn't weighed in months (denial) and got a nasty shock. Have since lost almost two stone so far since new year. I wouldn't say it helps me lose weight but it does make me get up and about, I set my step count goal quite high so if I'm having a lazy day I still have to get up and do something to make up the steps. It might help to get the ball rolling Smile

I love mine! Always struggled with my weight and exercise routine and done everything from Slimming World to Dukan diet. Got a fitbit and found it much more helpful, plus you can actually eat more than you think and still be in a calorie deficit and lose weight, provided you get the steps in! I've got the Charge HR and love it x

I love mine too and have lost just over two stone since the end of December using it. If you think she was genuinely interested in yours rather than just being polite then it's a fab idea, but tread carefully if you're not sure. My DM gave me a three month subscription to Slimming World as a Christmas gift one year and while I needed to lose weight it was really upsetting. If you're not sure why not ask if she thinks one might be fun / useful?

I have the Alta and I love that to most people it just looks like a watch.

I love mine. If she genuinely has an interest in being active then I think it's a good idea.
