AIBU?

to think colleague's behaviour is fucking revolting?

Work in big open plan office, about 100-150 on our floor.

All desks are visible all the time, there's no partitions or anything.

A colleague sits and picks their nose constantly throughout the day. Once excavated, nose contents are eaten. I have to try not to look - they are not directly in my eyeline, but it's easy to see them from where I sit - but it makes me gag.

I'm not the only one, several others find it awful too. One lady couldn't eat her lunch the other day because of it.

Nosepicker is fairly senior, apparently their manager has been told about it, and manager has been begged to have a word with nosepicker, but either that discussion hasn't happened or nosepicker has ignored it.

Wtf do we do? This is horrible isn't it? Nosepicker seems to carry on without compunction, I'm starting to wonder if they think this is normal?! I wouldn't allow a 5 year old to do this, why does an adult!

In case it's relevant nosepicker is late 30s/ early 40s. Born and raised in Uk. Degree educated. So old and educated enough to know better, you'd think Hmm

That made me feel sick just reading it.

Could you make non-discreet gagging noises every time they do it? Grin They may get the hint

Approach manager again and again and again and again until they stop?

Get their mobile moment and ring it every time a finger enters her nostril. . Hang up when she answers. .
Pick =ring.
Every time.

Can you rename the printer/network/wifi "we can see you picking your nose"

I'd have to leave a packet of tissues on their desk, with a note saying "for your bogeys"

Think if that was one of my old team members I would just take them to one side and ask them not to do it! It's pretty disgusting and I'm sure if they're pulled up on it then they'll just stop? We had a chap with BO in our team and my boss took him to one side and told him to buy some new shirts. Poor lad didn't get it - he did indeed buy new shirts but didn't solve the BO. I think if he had just been told you have BO then maybe he could have done something about it?

Why do you and your colleagues put up with it?
Stand in front of picky.
Get eye contact.
And discretely Say 'please stop picking your nose as it's very antisocial'
Job done.

Go for some CBT. Every time person picks nose blast horn, ring a bell- something to get them distracted from the behaviour. Then when they don't pick throw them a sweet.

How much snot does this person have, to allow for constant grazing throughout the day?? It must be a goldmine up there.

The lady who couldn't eat has a really weak stomach as a result of some medical issues, she ended up retching (sp?) in the ladies for ages and then didn't feel like eating.

I really don't blame her, it is horrible.

There's no HR in our office, they all work in a completely different building and managers are expected to deal with all day to day issues.

Looks like we'll have to try the manager again.

Nosey is senior to most of us, and older, so we're just a bit wary of confronting them. Feel it would be better coming from their manager iyswim.

All of you go to the manager or HR and tell them you want it to stop. They cannot ignore everyone.

Video it?
