AIBU?

To want to get my grocery delivery driver sacked?

EveryLittleBitDoesNotHelp · 26/02/2017 16:12

So basically ordered my dm's weekly grocery shop online to her house for today.

She is not very well suffering with hip problems so I'm helping to take care of her. I also have my ds with me.

Delivery was late but not really arsed about that even though it was inconvenient.

The driver had parked at the back of her house then scaled her back garden gate to unlock it. He dragged the shopping cart thingy down her patio steps and banged at the window (there's no bell, knocker or letterbox ect as it's a back door leading straight to the lounge). I was bfeeding ds in there.

My dm opened the door ajar and said "please could you come around the front as my dd is bfeeding". The driver shouted at her! said "well the satnav told me to come this way, why can't you just take the shopping here?". dm explained that I had my breasts exposed and the baby was getting cold, and that she couldn't carry the shopping to the front of the house due to her disabilities.

Driver reluctantly brought the shopping around to the front door and left. dm laughed him off as just being a miserable git.

So heard the back gate banging in the wind as he left it open. Just went outside to close it and he has lifted one of dm's patio slabs on her steps and just left it!

Complained to the customer service line but they just said they'd pass it onto the store manager. I'm fuming! my poor dm she is elderly and vulnerable. What should I do next? should i escalate my complaint and hope this selfish twat gets sacked?.

He was unreasonable about the patio. You were unreasonable in that you could have left the room and helped your mum after. Is it hard for a delivery driver to access the front door?

DioneTheDiabolist · 26/02/2017 16:18

Give it 3 days then follow up with another call.

Wishiwasmoiradingle2017 · 26/02/2017 16:19

Delivery driver shouldn't have needed an assistant to leave the bags at the appropriate door imo.
Report him to his store for crap attitude and for vandalism.

contractor6 · 26/02/2017 16:19

Call the store direct. Bad customer service.

How did he lift the slab? What with? Confused

SequinsOnEverything · 26/02/2017 16:21

Why would he ever go to the back of a house, climb the gate to unlock it and bang at someones back door?! I don't think he needs to be sacked, but he does need to have some kind of disciplinary and warning.

ItsNachoCheese · 26/02/2017 16:23

No excuse to move paving stones in an elderly ladies garden though no matter how much "shit" he had during his shift!!!

AndShesGone · 26/02/2017 16:23

Deliveries come to the front door.

Complain, complain, complain.

Who gives a fuck what sort of day he's had Hmm He's at fucking work ! And he can plaster on a smile, go to the right door, and not break the fucking garden !

Jesus, how hard is it.

Sparklingbrook · 26/02/2017 16:23

I don't understand how the satnav could direct someone to the back of a house instead of the front. Satnavs aren't that good.

Bantanddec · 26/02/2017 16:23

How do you know he moved the patio stone? Did you see him move it? You can't just accuse him because he's annoyed you!

Sparklingbrook · 26/02/2017 16:24

I don't understand any of this at all.

TinyBarista · 26/02/2017 16:24

I wonder if could come to mine and take up the patio next time with his magical concrete lifting skills, and save me a job.

Sorry.

LadyPW · 26/02/2017 16:26

The fact that he had to climb over the gate to unlock it should have told him that he was delivering to the wrong door! Surely a bit of common sense would have been in order on his part? How difficult is it to drive round the corner - unless of course OP's mother lives in a mansion on a whopping estate.
That said, I can't see it would be that much issue to accept the shopping there since he was there. As for the slab - follow it up but I'd not say sacking was necessary, just a bollocking & official warning for laziness, thoughtlessness and destroying customer's property!

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 26/02/2017 16:27

". dm explained that I had my breasts exposed and the baby was getting cold

She said you had your boobs out,Really?

LakieLady · 26/02/2017 16:27

I'm appalled that he climbed over the back fence and unlocked. How was he going to lock it again? Did he expect your mum to hobble up the garden and lock the back gate?

I'd definitely complain, and if he can't find the front door by satnav he needs to get a pigging street atlas and learn how to use it.

EveryLittleBitDoesNotHelp · 26/02/2017 16:28

There's road access at the front too. It's an open garden with no steps so alot easier to access than the back. I did put it away for dm after I finished feeding ds. But yeah probably could've hovered in the passage or toilet with babe on tit.

So he's had a shit day. And? Plenty of people have a shit day and get on with their job. Having a shit day doesn't justify anyone climbing over a wall to open a gate. Too right he should have apologised and taken the stuff round to the front door.

DrunkenMissOrderly · 26/02/2017 16:30

I'm shocked that you actually want him to lose his job over this. He tried to deliver to the door his satnav sent him too. He went to a lot of effort to get it to what he thought was the right door. A LOT of effort. I'm flabbergasted that you made him take it back round. I bet he was fuming, how petty.
And you don't know he moved the paving slab, you are just choosing to blame him in the hope you can get him sacked. How vindictive.

DesolateWaist · 26/02/2017 16:32

The driver had parked at the back of her house then scaled her back garden gate to unlock it.

By this do I understand that house backs onto a different road? That she has a gate at the bottom of the garden to West Street when her actual house is on East Street?
So the driver has pulled up at the back gate on a different road and then climbed over the gate?

Sudocreamface · 26/02/2017 16:32

You sound precious op. He had already parked, unloaded and carried it all to the door. Are you aware how long that takes and how heavy.

Sparklingbrook · 26/02/2017 16:34

What would his motivation be for moving a paving slab anyway? That's just weird.

He won't lose his job, I've worked in customer services for years!! If she says he's lifted a slab on her garden they'll just think she's a batty old fool! They will ask him his side of the story and unless she has cctv her complaint will go straight in the bin.

Sudocreamface · 26/02/2017 16:36

Also did you see him taking the slab up. Has your mum had deliveries before and taken them at the back door when you was not there? How do you know he haven't do e it lots of times that way without being asked to go to the front.

khajiit13 · 26/02/2017 16:38

Absolutely complain but wanting him to lose his job is excessive. Did you see him move the paving slabs? Could he lifted it with his foot by accident and not noticed how he left it due to carrying shopping?
