So tonight is dd night to be at her dads, he normally picks her up at 4pm after he finishes work.

He'd not turned up by half 4 and ds wanted me to take drop him off at his friends house so loads everyone into the car, on the way we see dd's dad sat in a beer garden with his work mates with a few drinks on the table but he doesn't see me.

He's just been to pick her up (in his car) and I've refused to let her go in the car with him because he's been drinking and he's not best pleased and stormed off.

Wibu to not let her go with him, I know that he's been drinking due to seeing drinks on the table and I can also tell that he's had at least a couple. I don't know how long he's been there.

Yanbu. He can be as pissed off as he likes but you're keeping your dc safe.

Yanbu, and tbh, I'd have been tempted to dob him in to the police for drink driving.

I'd have called the police and given his number plate. What kind of absolute dick gets pissed and is an hour late for their kid and then intends to take their child while pissed? my ex husband tried it once too, I did exactly what you did

You don't know for sure he was drinking just from seeing drinks on the table if he was with a group, he could have been on soft drinks. If he is acting drunk then that's different and I definitely wouldn't let DD go with him.

Thanks everyone for agreeing. He wasn't pissed but had clearly had a couple of drinks. He tried to deny being at the pub until I said that I had saw him and could name everyone that was there.

Geillis, true but I know for a fact that he could not go to a pub and have soft drinks with friends. Hence why he is an ex Smile

A couple of drinks would take him over the limit for driving. I'm in Scotland so one would, not sure where you are OP but surely a couple of pints would do it? Also, he was in a pub half an hour after he should have had his daughter. That makes him a prick.

Not at all unreasonable of you. He put drink above his daughter there.
