AIBU?

to think I'm not 'bonkers' for thinking I might be pregnant with twins?

This is my fourth pregnancy. With the first three I didn't truly believe I was pregnant until the scan as I didn't feel any symptoms at all. This time I tested early and a clearly visible line appeared within thirty seconds. I felt 'heavy' in my stomach within a week, totally went off food, feel completely sick and can't eat after 2pm, apologies for TMI but I have lots of discharge, a really dry mouth, I've gone up a dress size and look the same as I did at 4 months pregnant during my last pregnancy.

I've seen people looking but they've been too polite to ask. I've had lots of cramping and have been so tired I've had to pull over after driving for just ten minutes. All this and I'm only 9 weeks. I mentioned to my sister today that I'm worried it could be twins and she said I was bonkers and over dramatic and that it's just because I'm older than my last pregnancy and because all pregnancies are different. I agree the latter could well be the case but I was only last pregnant two years ago. I feel so very different and think twins could be the reason. AIBU to suspect it or am I being a drama queen?

It is entirely possible. Congratulations Smile

I think showing sooner and feeling more tired is probably because it's your 4th.

smileygrapefruit · 22/02/2017 22:39

Trust your gut. I was certain from the minute I took the test it was twins. 12 week scan and I was right, although very sadly we lost one.

First congratulations!!
Likely separation of the stomach muscles is making you look further on!! Strong line /early positive tests dont necessarily indicate twins!! But can't say it won't be two for def either!!

PacificDogwod · 22/02/2017 22:40

Twins are more common in older mothers.... Grin

Congratulations!

I thought I was dying before I found out I was having twins 😀Never been so exhausted in my life, well until I had them! Good luck with your pregnancy

jessiefish · 22/02/2017 22:45

I understand that girlinthefireplace but that could've been said about my third too and I didn't show for several months with her.

I had twins with my fourth pregnancy. I had no clue until the scan confirmed it, but it made sense: i had all the usual symptoms but just multiplied - very sick, very sore boobs, very tired, very horny, etc. I was over 40 so much more likely to have twins.

Congratulations

Iwantawhippet · 22/02/2017 22:49

I thought I was pregnant with twins after terrible morning sickness and tiredness. I was right. So I don't think you're bonkers!

ceeveebee · 22/02/2017 22:51

Well I had no morning sickness at all with twins so not always a sign. But congrats whether it's one or two!

WorraLiberty · 22/02/2017 22:51

Could be bloating or it could be twins.

YANBU to think it might be either of those things.

As to whether you're being 'over dramatic' or a 'drama queen', only you and your sister know that.

Either way, congratulations Thanks

UnbornMortificado · 22/02/2017 22:53

Congratulations Flowers

I had similar shit loads of sickness and showing early (it's my 5th pregnancy) I was stupidly relieved there was only one in there!

You'll find out soon enough YANBU to think it.

I went on holiday at 6 weeks without DH but knowing I was pregnant and sent him a bikini photo and asked if he saw what I did, a teeny little bump, he said I'd just eaten too much on holiday but turned out to be twins Grin they're now 10months old! Congratulations either way.

DramaAlpaca · 22/02/2017 22:59

I thought I might be having twins with my third pregnancy because I was so sick from so early on & showed almost as soon as I knew I was pregnant. I was wrong, just the one.

You won't have long to wait until your first scan to find out. Congrats.

Dollywantscoffee00 · 22/02/2017 22:59

I knew very early on too and I was right , my dh didn't believe me . A week before my period was due I had nausea I tested and had very strong line instantly. I was extremely tired aswell . If you can get hold of the clear blue tests that tell how many weeks you are and test , if it's indicating that you are ahead of your dates then that's a good sign you are carrying twins .

BillSykesDog · 22/02/2017 23:03

I have twins and I was opening this to say you were bonkers but actually it really does chime with my experience. Congratulations however many it is. And good luck if it is twins, it's bloody hard work.

dowhatnow · 22/02/2017 23:04

Only place marking for 3 weeks to find out if you are right or not.

NapQueen · 22/02/2017 23:06

Not bonkers at all. Entirely possible!

MollyHuaCha · 22/02/2017 23:06

Congratulations. When is the scan arranged for? Smile

jessiefish · 22/02/2017 23:07

My scan is on Monday because my periods were irregular but I know by when we DTD that I'm only 9 weeks.

I am usually a size ten and could see a difference in my tummy by six weeks too Billy Confused

I'm pregnant with my second and I must admit the thought that it was twins crossed my mind. I was sick from day one, exhausted, huge, bloated...a zillion times worse than my (relatively easy) first pregnancy.

Was relieved to see only one in there at the scan. Truth is though, that all pregnancies are different. You may well be pregnant with twins but chances are it's just a different pregnancy.

Both of the people I know who had twins were struggling to do up their jeans by 6-8 weeks, even the first timer. Its entirely possible.

PointlessUsername · 22/02/2017 23:13

Congratulations.

UnbornMortificado · 22/02/2017 23:14

Jessie please update I'm curious now.

I'm 9 weeks as well. I'm definitely showing, it's not food as I've kept nothing down since Sunday.
