My baby is 9 weeks old and I'm pregnant again

Oh hell. My baby is 9 weeks old. We've had sex twice since she was born. Past 3 days I've had every symptom of pregnancy but thought there is no chance. I had a preg test in my bathroom cupboard so thought I'd do it just to ease my mind. Low and behold I'm pregnant.

I am in complete shock. It took us 3 years and fertility treatment to get our baby so this is a huge huge huge surprise.

Please tell me it'll be ok.

Congratulations!!!
Everything will be fine and your LO's will be so close to each other being such similar ages.

Kim82 · 22/02/2017 17:40

Congratulations! Everything will indeed be fine. I have had a friend sound today who has 11 months between her youngest two, they are almost 4 and 5 now and so close, it's lovely to see. It'll be hard work for the first year or so but so worth it.

1pink4blue · 22/02/2017 17:41

I fell pregnant with ds2 when ds1 was 12 weeks.
I'm not gonna lie it was hard work but it was and will be fine.
Congratulatons

WineAndTiramisu · 22/02/2017 17:43

Congratulations! It'll all be fine, try not to worry too much Smile

rachyconks · 22/02/2017 17:43

Oh yeah! You will be grand. Pregnancy will be easier as your baby won't be on its feet yet. Yes, the first year is a total blur, but mine are 3&4 now and best buddies. (Though they fight like cat and dog sometimes!). It is so much easier now.

DartmoorDoughnut · 22/02/2017 17:43

Oh my word! Congrats Grin DS2 is 10 weeks old and we haven't even gotten around to that side of things yet so hats off to you!

Oh wow. If it was me I'd have an abortion.

But I do know people that have done it and survived so if you think you can I bow down to you!

giraffewithalongneck · 22/02/2017 17:47

HighwayDragon1 Irish twins is an increbily offence thing to say.
Batteriesallgone Given how long it took to get our baby, abortion is not an option.

Thank you everyone.

Congrats!! Honestly, it really will be fine. Of course it's closer than ideal NOW, but they will have such a lovely time together in a couple of years. 2 of mine are v close in age and they are now 4 and 3 and spend HOURS together playing and chatting.
Get the city mini double GT buggy....or even the bugaboo donkey although it's ££

Solasum · 22/02/2017 17:47

At least they will be in different school years. Congratulations!

FontainaGrimbot · 22/02/2017 17:48

batteries same. Worst nightmare.

Best of luck to you op Flowers

Kathdarville · 22/02/2017 17:48

I havent had kids and ive been researching a lot before having them , especially post prtum and how soon after you can have sex again after. With that in mins discovered that it is a very very high likelihood of falling pregnant right after giving birth dueing recovery period and to be more careful than usual. Not many people realise just how easily it happens and then are surprised when it does! Youll be fine and imo its better to get it over with in close succession. Done and dusted. Who knows i may even go the route of trying for twins and get my double whammy in one go. Good luck. Dont worry just roll with it.

TiredBum · 22/02/2017 17:48

Congratulations Flowers

I honestly think you can learn to cope with most things, but only you & your partner really knows what's right for you x

Palomb · 22/02/2017 17:49

Why is Irish twins an offensive thing to say?

DisneyMillie · 22/02/2017 17:49

I'm sure you're right as you have symptoms but just as a precaution - how long do pregnancy hormones last in the body post a normal pregnancy? I know I still tested positive after a miscarriage for several weeks - does it take longer after having a baby? (Just in case it's your current baby hormones playing tricks on the test)

BreatheDeep · 22/02/2017 17:49

Woah! I have a 9 week old too and my husband and I haven't got back on that saddle again yet! Impressive work. You'll be fine I'm sure, lots have done it. Congratulations!

Averlongtimeago · 22/02/2017 17:50

Highway dragon and batteries: what offensive posts!
Congratulations OP, I had twins, it will be fine!

weemouse · 22/02/2017 17:51

Why is Irish Twins offensive, don't be so overly dramatic it's a figure of speech

HitsAndMrs · 22/02/2017 17:51

Poor highwaydragon! Why on earth do you think that's offensive?!

Erm.. congratulations.

FortyFacedFuckers · 22/02/2017 17:52

Congratulations
My friend has 9 months & 3 weeks between her 2, the first year was difficult but by the time they were both on their feet and slept it got much easier for her and she said in a way it was actually easier having them so close as they pretty much went through every stage together. They are now 5&6 best friends and in the same year at school.

Writerwannabe83 · 22/02/2017 17:52

I think this is lovely news OP Flowers

There's only 12 months between me and my sister and we are so close. She's my best friend and I love the bones of each other because our entire childhoods were wrapped up in each other.

I can see why you'd be scared and nervous but after all you've been through what a special gift this new baby is Flowers

What has your husband said about it?

Hi op mine are 11 months apart, you will be fine! It's not always easy but it's great. My 1 year old loves his brother, it's hilarious to watch them together. Good luck and congratulations! Flowers

As for the abortion comments, how unecessary. Hmm

beebeecee · 22/02/2017 17:53

Flowers congratulations OP. Take a deep breath and try to take it easy as possible (not easy I know!)
