My 6-year-old daughter is unbelievably messy, her room, it's like she likes it messy. She is a Cancerian, I don't understand. She loves being naked and leaving her clothes where she takes them off, mind you, she also has about 6 clothes changes in a day, she can not fold properly yet but tries when I tell her to clean. I sound like a nag when I write this, but first I need to know if A, is this normal for a little girl? B, is there tips to help her be organised other than to help her clean her room, C, she can't reach her hanger area, any other idea for school uniforms that have just been ironed for her to reach to get dressed?
Most times her floor is covered with crayons, books and toys barbies, and clothes.

Also while on the topic, my oldest son is a teddy hoarder and I need advice on how to keep them off his bed, because they also just cover the floor and I don't know where to put them!!!

HELP MUMS PLEASE!!

Hammocks are good for multiple soft toys.

Please don't tell me you expect her to be tidy because of the alignment of the stars in the month of her birth.

I think at this age you need to take the lead on this. My dd is just a little older than yours. I've always tidied up for her but usually ask that she helps. Although sometimes it's quicker and easier for me to blitz it and sneak some items off to charity in her absence. i think you are expecting too much of her.

Ikea kallax good for storage. For daughter's beanie boos a picture shelf again from ikea works well. They are in a row under a mirror. Under bed storage works well too.
Daughter fairly messy and just try to keep on top of it Grin

With the uniform, can you hang the next one to be worn on a doorknob so she can reach it easily?

What's the mess mostly? toys or clothes or just everything? Maybe a trip to Ikea with her to choose some lovely storage tubs or boxes and then a reward chart for keeping it tidy all week?

Its pretty normal for a 6 yr old, boy or girl...

She's 6 - that's about all there is to understand. Little girls aren't natural born housewives that takes a bit of conditioning Hmm

Yes help her to tidy and get her clothes out the wardrobe for her if she can't reach, tis part of parenting alas.

Horoscope bollocks has nothing to do with it.

The only reason my own 6yr old son's room is tidy, btw, is that all the shit is downstairs Angry and he has to tidy up before bed.

I dont know. I really hate idea of reward charts, she's at home, she's six, she's not going to tidy up without some help, encouragement etc so give her that, not a schedule of tasks.

help her tidy - or she wont learn to - she is 6 - and her star sign is irrelevant

She's six. Get some plastic tubs. Throw the stuff in them. Tell her it's more important to be interested in the world than in making sure your carpet nap is all brushed in the same direction.

I dont think she really has to be organised at six, why not let her play, help her tidy up a bit at night.

My daughter is 6 and a Capricorn and her room is a pigsty most of the time.

She's 6

This.

Read it.

Read it again.

She's 6

Lower your expectations.

My 5yo DS prefers his room to be tidy. He can put his dirty washing in the basket and put non-folded items (socks, pants etc) away in a drawer. He can pack away lego, jigsaws etc into boxes (we have lots of labelled boxes in his room), with support at the end of each day. He can put books back on shelves. Other than that, I would expect cleaning his room to be my responsibility for a few more years yet.

What do you expect from a 6 year old ! This is baffling Confused

Mines not even 4 and her room looks like multiple bombs have hit it in very quick succession followed by a hpwhole herd of rampaging Wilder beast and a very untidy rhino.

My tip for survival, stop caring.
Its her room, if that's how she wants it, let her get on with it.
(Then sneak in when she's at school and tidy)

Not a schedule of tasks. No demands, just a reason to have a go if something nice is the result.

You lost me on "she's a Cancerian". Do people really believe that stuff?

My three year old is a Leo and pissed all over our bed at 6am this morning, who knew?

Have you tried a tidy up song there's lots on YouTube, although she may be a bit old for it.

You ain't seen nothing yet, OP, you've got the teenage years to come.

But why the fuck is her so-called star-sign relevant?

Every time I read comments like that I feel cheated. Because if you are of an age to have a child of six then I am of age to have helped pay for your education and the money has been wasted if you believe in such blatant bullshit.
