To tell eBay buyer to sod off

OK, now quite but getting really annoyed now!

I sold something on eBay for a fiver (item was worth more but just wanted it gone) a couple of days ago.

Ad stated collection only. First message I get was "Can you drop the item to me?". Said sorry but no, don't have a car.

Yesterday he was due to pick it up around 5:30. I was supposed to be meeting friends that eve but waited until 8pm for him. No show, no message.

Messages me this morning to say "Sorry about last night. Can I come tonight?". I say OK, will see you around 5:30. He says "Great, see you then!".

Been waiting since then to have a bloody bath and get into my PJs after being at work since 8am for him to come. Just get another text "Sorry can't come tonight can I come tomorrow instead?".

WIBU to just tell him I'm not interested any more after being messed around twice and refund him?

YANBU I would refund and say no sorry it is no longer convenient. Unless they give you a very good explanation.

YANBU, really inconsiderate behaviour from him-tell him to do one.

I would give him another chance but make it for a time when you are in anyway. DO NOT wait in for him again if he is late and make sure you send any messages to him via EBay dicumenting what has already happened so that if there is a dispute (unlikely over £5). You are covered.

You gave him two chances, refund him and say tell him why. He's taking the piss.

Refund him. You leave yourself vulnerable for taking an electronic payment with collection only. He can come an get it, take it away and then say to Ebay that he never received it. Ebay will refund him and you won't have the good or the cash.

He's given you a great excuse, so please protect yourself and do it. He's already established he's an arse.

Refund. What a massive pita. We had this with a cheapo item, buyer kept failing to turn up, then turns up with no warning. We were out, he was not happy! Ridiculous! I'm not going to stay in all day to wait for him!

cash on collection only - refund his paypal asap regardless of whether they collect or not.

Yep, refund immediately. Never accept electronic payment for collection.

Absolutely refund now. Explain item not collected. Tell him that is what you have done. Then give him one more chance cash on collection only.

Thanks all! Don't feel so bad now. Told him this is the second time he's bailed so he's been refunded.

eBay buyers can be total twats backed up by eBay because buyers are not allowed to leave poor feedback however much they piss you about.

I'm house clearing ATM and can't tell you how often this has happened to me - just what the hell is wrong with ebay buyers these days?? Angry

FWIW I think you were right to refund, but he'll probably neg you now and good luck with getting ebay to remove it Hmm In all fairness they did eventually cancel the lies one "buyer" told on my feedback, but not until I'd spent ages on the phone, insisting on speaking to the appeals section

There's a reason why many people will no longer sell on ebay ...

He texted to say he still wants it and then tried to call me but I just ignored Grin I find Gumtree buyers much more reliable (and Gumtree just better in general for selling TBH). By the time you've paid the eBay fees now it's not even worth it!

I also no longer sell on ebay because they insist on siding with piss-taking, lying buyers.
