Past, present or future, what would it be? How do you think the change would impact things?

I would say "No, Ed. Do not stand for the Labour leadership. Let your elder brother David have this chance."

Only one thing, I was wish I hadn't got myself in to the debt I'm currently in. Most of it wasn't needed. I could have just been more careful but I was careless and found it easy to buy lovely things on credit cards because I didn't really think about it. Then it got to the point where it was spiraling a bit. Now I'm really stressed about going on maternity leave in a few months time and how the hell I'm going to keep up repayments, it's going to be very very tight. Lots of budgeting and penny pinching will be required and it would be so much easier if I didn't have credit cards to worry about paying when I was off and I'd be able to put a few extra 100 away each month now instead.

I lost three stone last year, I wish I didn't put it all (and more) back on.

I wish we had a slightly bigger house.

I would change my procrastination side of me. I'm a tidy person stuck in a messy person's body.

I would

Leave my ex sooner than I did
Be more proactive with self - care
Make the leap to self - employment sooner

(all with the knowledge of now so I make it work)

Three things
Lose weight (new year's resolution which I haven’t really started yet....I could have been at least a stone down by now). It would improve my health, confidence and sexlife😗

GirlsonFilm · 18/02/2017 07:41

Oops the other two
Spend more time with my dcs - I work very long hours as I'm the breadwinner and have workaholic tendencies

Travelled more when I had the money and time.

Bewty Was going to ask what you did SE wise, but I'm assuming you're a beautician or something like that?

Snap Hope you get your bigger house one day, do you have a house style in mind? Procrastination isn't that bad, but I think maybe we should get a pokey stick so we acted on what we wanted to do.

Moonlight I'm guessing it's going to be tight if your wages go down. Can you call the companies and ask them the freeze interest and go on a payment plan? They prefer that to you deciding not to pay, not that you would. But if they froze the interest and reduced the amount, you could pay them all back. Wishing you a happy and healthy baby.

Welly I think you're right, I if we'd have a Labour government possibly in charge instead of TM.

I would have chosen not to go to boarding school in the uk at 16- that probably would have changed most of what's happened since (although wouldn't want to change my kids)

I would have had more self respect in all my teenage relationships

If I am allowed the benefit of knowledge of the future when going back to change things I would have taken my mum straight to the hospital and demanded tests as soon as she got ill then maybe she wouldn't have died.

Past... I wouldn't have such a gap between first two kids and last two so we are helping to deal with teenagers, grandchildren and elderly parents.

Present,,,,, hopefully extend our house to accommodate growing family

Future having had our first kids early twenties and last kids mid thirties hope that in the next 10 years they all are settled and independent and dh and I can actually have time to spend with each other and be a bit selfish.

Past - I would have been more self confident and actually believed I was beautiful and not the hideous ogre I thought I was. Would have changed so much about my teenage years.

Present - nightwean DS (nearly 15 months) so I can pack him off to my mums for the night and get some SLEEP!

Future- where to start? Decide if we can cope with another pregnancy and baby, move to a quieter street out of town a bit, be more proactive and less procrastinating. Believe I am worth putting myself first sometimes!

Past - gone to university to read psychology.
Present - the motivation and self discipline to be fit.
Future - that my children grow in confidence to lead the life they want.

Lived within means sooner...then when started to live within means saved more. Starting to get savings now when really could be doing with more due to big life change.

I would change:

  • Not comfort eating during my bipolar related breakdowns, which would mean I wouldn't be a size 20 and stuck in a habit/addiction of sugar and fat

  • I would have had chosen to be diagnosed with bipolar much, much earlier and therefore hopefully avoided two breakdowns and a lot of heartache and depression (though I perhaps would be much less well rounded as a person so actually I don't know about this one!)

  • Saved. I've had a well paid job for the last 15 years and have hardly saved anything. Now I need the money to cover my mat leave if we have children

Hmmmmm. Tricky. I'm essentially happy now and some changes would mean I wouldn't have DH and the kids...

So I wish I'd worked harder at school, done a different degree and gone to a different university - all would make my life now totally different....

In the realms of now... wish we'd tried harder to have a third child.

I'd just change one thing, now, and take away DH's cancer.

Report
ForalltheSaints · 18/02/2017 08:34

Be able to sleep better
Stop hair loss (I am a man btw)
Take away my mum's back condition which limits her.

past wish I could have had children or at least had the knowledge of fertility to try years ago. And be more daring with relationships

present wish we had children now. Or wish we didn't want them

future be a granny, or just have enough money to be able to travel around and go to all the weekenders we love (this but could happen)

If I could go back, I would go to university two years later than I did. I was way too young. Then again, if I had done that, my entire life would be different. It could be better or it could be worse. So as things are currently quite good, perhaps I wouldn't change that, even though it was pretty awful at the time.

Flowers Squirrels

I would change my dad from a functioning alcoholic with a hair trigger temper to a pleasant sober person.

Take away my DH's disabilities (one of which is going to kill him).

I would have gone to university as lack of a degree is holding me back in my current career.

Report
0nline · 18/02/2017 09:01

I wish there hadn't been somebody who randomly googled my dad, cos then they felt (justifiably)they had to pass on the links of random internet people chatting about his death.

This last year, having this knowledge has ripped open some poorly healed scars. That evidently had festering going on under the scar tissue.

I wish the wounds had been left closed. I grieved for him once when he left us, walked away, turned his back. And now I have to grieve again, but can't work out if this is "real" bereavement or not, cos he left us 30 years ago. Also not sure if it counts. But my heart thinks it's broken. And this time of losing him, I can't find my inner superglue to put it back together. I've run out of fucking glue just when I really needed some left in the bottom of the tube.

Leave my ex sooner than I did.
Learning more quickly what I want from a partner/relationships.
I'm struggling to find a meaningful 3rd as I'm really happy with things so I'll just choose I wish I'd learned sooner what colours and shapes suit me and had done the wardrobe cleanse sooner so that I'd have had more time to feel fabulous!
