YANBU, but don't be the pushchair user who dawdles along, stopping often, blocking people behind you.

Put a bike bell on it. Wink

My husband often expressed the need for a mini tank to cart ds around in, preferably with spears sticking out the front! (We live in a very touristy town!)

It's the ones who cut in in front of you in crowds that drove me up the wall - occupying the half metre of stopping space in front of you that everyone else has sensibly left you, so that if they stop for any reason you end up running into them. Someone did that to me once near Croydon train station in a really slow crowd and then sort of forgot I was there and fell onto the buggy, fag in hand. I - let's say "lifted" - her off the buggy fairly smartly when that happened.

Of course you can ram complete strangers in the ankles because they're doing something you don't like Hmm.

Just so long as if you do the same strangers can shove you too.

Somebody fell on to my buggy on day. They decided to cut across me,leg in air.But tehy misjudged it and fell on the buggy.

All the dealers on Moore Street ,ran over lifted him off and gave out stink to him.Along wiht my screaming,he was gone quick.Fuckers.

YANBU to think it but you would be to do it.

Same, buggy or not, to want to kill those people who suddenly stop still in front of you.

As a fast walker myself I often wish there was a slow and a fast lane on pavements and in shopping malls. If I want to get somewhere I just want to get on with it.

Having said that I do know that many people walk slowly for loads of reasons - health issues, window shopping etc. Hence the desire for two walking lanes so that the slow walkers don't get in the way of the fast walkers and the fast walkers don't annoy the slow walkers.

YABU. Just as I ABU when I want to kick women with pushchairs who park them in stupid places like the middle of the aisle in Sainsbos.

Ha ha I have been tempted to do this.

People can be selfish twats completely oblivious to their surroundings and other people.

I got stuck behind a pair of dawdling idiots blocking my way once in a shop, and had an impatient prick behind me. He pushed past me and climbed over my pram but lost his balance and ended up practically in the bloody thing staring my DD in the face Grin

So I was stuck between the two dawdling idiots in front of me and the impatient prick behind me. If everyone was more aware of their surroundings and kept to one side if stopping in shops/high streets it would be a much less angry place!

I was a fast walker, until I became seriously ill, over a year ago. So I'd be inclined to treat people how you would like to be treated.

Unless you think that it's ok to physically harm, or cause pain to someone because they're disabled, of course.

You might have been lucky not to slow down during pregnancy or after the birth, but not everyone is.

I do hate the way that people will cross in front of a pram, or wheelchair, though.

Yes! Especially supermarkets. There should be 'Wandering Along Gazing Around As If You've Never Seen A Bloody Supermarket Before' lane and an 'I Know Where My Stuff Is Just Let Me Be Quick' lane.

Being incredibly good mannered (and been slow myself at some points of my life) i would never show irritation though Grin

Don't forget that it's also a way to stop all oncoming traffic - just push the bad-boy out in front of you onto the road and all cars magically stop!

The ramming thing works best if you are strolling two-abreast with your best made, carrying a coffee cup and yapping about CBeebies

I believe this was meant to be a joke so for all the people attacking the OP, I don't think that's necessary.

I hate walking slowly and often wanted to ram my buggy into people but obviously I never did. I just seethed and imagined it in my head. Someone actually commented on how fast I was walking once when I had my buggy. I think everyone assumed I would amble because of it.

Just to clarify I am incredibly polite and I don't actually ram them (!) I slow down/stop/ swerve out of the way/ occassionally mutter under my breath. I just think about how I doubt they'd push in front of a pushchair again if it knocked their ankles just a wee bit..?!

Well I'm 40+4 currently so am pretty slow walking, and was out yesterday in town with my friend who has a disability. I'd love it if some entitled cuntweasel took that as a reason to ram us with their pushchair. That would be really hillarious. Hmm

Not

well then it's just one of those little annoyances that we all live with, day-to-day.

YABU. Everything about life with a toddler is slow except the need to find a toilet within 10 seconds when your child needs a wee.

Maybe having kids was a mistake if you are in a hurry. If you don't plan to become of those parents who's always dragging their poor dawdling child along behind them with the only conversation being "come-on-we're-late", now might be a good time to practice patience.

Some people are slow and some are fast. The slow ones are not usually in your way individually for more than ten seconds before you can manage to squeeze by somehow and start getting yourself wound up about somebody new being in your way. What's ten seconds?

When I see some elderly people moving along at a pace only slightly faster than a glacier I don't think "I wish she weren't in front of me". I think "it's lucky for me I can walk so easily". I'm glad of the tourists too. Their money keeps my town looking good and provides jobs for my teenager and her friends. When they stare around in wonder it reminds me how lovely the place is, when I otherwise might forget. With the people who bump into their friends and have a long conversation on the pavement, I think how great that they aren't just going about their solitary business with their heads down. They do move when I ask them to; it only takes a moment.

I've accidently rammed people with my dad's wheelchair! They walk along then sidestep infront while I'm walking with him. It takes me about 2 seconds to stop which results in bumped ankles. It's like they leap infront of the chair for some reason.
I've also had the climbing over him thing and someone walk into him almost land on his lap and say "sorry didn't see you there!"
I'm sorely tempted to ankle bump the leapers, but I know how painful it is... so try to stop the chair intime so they don't get a whack.

pilates · 17/02/2017 07:34

Not, of course you have priority with a buggy Hmm

Just remember this conversation in 50 years time when you are not able to walk so fast.

There could be many reasons why people walk slowly.

Get over yourself.
