AIBU?

To want to rip out my own uterus?

Pre kids; easy periods. No PMS, not that regular, didn't last long, light flow.

Nearly 4 years now since DD2 was born and I feel increasing pain, PMS and general ugh-ness every monthly. I'm now regular as clockwork. Actually felt like my left ovary was being wringed out today, like my back was being drilled into and my eyes were like burning coals in my head. Also, energy wise i have been pretty useless for 5 days. Expecting to pep up in two.

So, AIBU to feel like ripping out my own uterus? Was I just lucky all those pre-child years? Is this the norm?! Is there any advice to manage this better? (Disclaimer, already take 2xspatone daily for anaemia)

Thx in advance 😔

Go and chat to your GP rather than engaging in diy surgery (no matter how tempting Wink)
If there has been a noticeable change in your periods then you might have developed a problem like an ovarian cyst, endometriosis or adenomyosis (or in my case all three at various times!).
Did you have a c section?

Thx Chaz, I think you might be right. No c-sec but some issues with first delivery and conceived my second not many months after my periods started again - about a year after youngest was born. A really noticeable change in symptoms in last 6 months though. I read that PMS can worsen after childbirth & always thought I must have had it easy compared to my friends who seemed to suffer so I'm just not sure whether I'm just being a wuss?! Pain's subjective though I suppose?! And at least I know it'll pass! 😬

Do you take a multi vitamin?
I found a considerable change taking a daily Womens vitamin

I'd definitely talk to your doctor. I found it was the opposite with me. I used to have excruciating period pain but after birth don't notice them.

Do you know what i can't figure out? Why they haven't invented something that gets your period out in one go. Why does it have to last for fucking days?

We need a foof hoover. A foover.

It's worth getting it checked out just in case. If you didn't used to get much pain and now you are it might just be bad luck but it might be something treatable.

I'll contribute to a Foover if you start a crowdfunder ClopySow :)

I was tempted to go to the vets and asking to be spayed as the waiting list is short!!!
But then, my uterus has never really behaved. Stupid irregular, hideously heavy and viciously painful periods throughout my teens and twenties, save for the time I spent on the pill.
I have 2 children and it got worse, ended up with a

I'd invest in a foover!

Before I had kids I found evening primrose oil useless for pmt rage but it works wonders now when I remember to take it. And although it's not perfect, the merina coil has helped a lot; I went from 5 days of flooding to

Right oh. I'll get on it. I probably need to patent foover.

Its shit.

Before dc mine were so bad I would vomit for 12 hours straight on the first day. I was admitted several times to hospital with them.

Improved after dc 1. Didn't restart between dc2 and pregnancy with dc3.

After dc3 they took out my uterus. I still have ovaries and now get pains from the left over ovaries and scar tissue that has adhesed inside. FFS.

Try magnesium supplements. Feroglobin double dose from the week before I was due and through my period helped. Spatone just wasn't enough for me. Also randomly low frequency vibration helped along with hot water bottles and shed loads of pain relief.

Cake and Gin may also be required.

Mine were always bad. Was reliably informed they'd improve after having kids. Those people were lying twats Angry

Definitely talk to your GP. It isn't, despite the lying arseholes what I was told, odd for them to worsen after children. But there are treatments they can give you, basics like mefanamic acid etc.

Good luck OP Flowers
p.s. please remember that whilst it feels like your uterus is being removed slowly by teaspoons, its not advisable to help Grin

me too - since having dc mine have gotten heavier - i'm thinking it's just age unfortunately although the blood just seems to drop out these days rather than trickle. I now have to worry about bleeding through all my clothes which never happened when I was younger and keeps catching me off guard!

On a recent holiday I had a Thai massage on the first day of my period. That night I woke up with my tampon and pad completely soaked through and a fair-sized patch of blood on the bed. I initially freaked out thinking something must be wrong but I cleaned myself up and replaced the tampon and pad and went back to sleep. I realised in the morning that I needn't have bothered with the new tampon and pad as my period was finished. The stimulation from the massage had made it all come out at once and I was able to enjoy the rest of my holiday with no further pain.
I haven't tested the theory out since then but there is a Thai massage place up the road from my house so I'll give it a go next time.

Go to your Dr definitely.Pre DD I had the kind of periods that made childbirth a walk in the park and I got a baby at the end of it and not perfect but much better post baby.See your GP and if what you try doesn't help keep going back or ask for a referral to a specialist. If you were suffering this much for anything other than this you would be kicking the GPs door down for treatment but we all put up with more than we should.

P.s. if anyone is suffering from bad night flooding go and but some economy pull ups from your local supermarket. Tear them down the sides and place them inside some big knickers. Works a treat and saves bedding.

Flooding can be a sign of fibroids or perimenopause. There are treatments like tranexamic acid and even ibuprofen that can help.

The Foover exists, though you can't get it in Argos. Called menstrual extraction, feminists worked out the technique in the early 70s. Self-help groups taught themselves how to do it and assembled the kit. Because it can be used for early abortions as well as extracting those annoying menses, its use fell out of favour post Roe Vs Wade.

A bit of history that should not get lost.

Ooh, loving Foover- or maybe Vagivax? On a more serious note I was the complete opposite. Since having children mine are far less painful/heavy. It was horrendous so I really do sympathise- sorry I don't really have any useful advice to add.
