Crying at Macaroni Cheese No-Show

I sound like a loon, I know, but I was meant to be having macaroni cheese for dinner tonight and it didn't happen. I got unreasonably emotional and had to go upstairs to cry about it.
Please make me feel better with your stories of inexplicable grief at ridiculous things!

I trot this one out a lot, but I got very upset about the lack of vegetables in the house when I was quite pregnant and DH had to take me to Sainsbury's at 9pm and spend £40 on fresh veg

I've had bad agility lessons with my dog and cried about it. All victories are hers and all mistakes are mine; I mess up often and kick myself. So to sum up, Sometimes I weep because I didn't get my dog to jump over something correctly.she has a ball either way.

Need more info. Did it not happen due to a cooking disaster, missing ingredient or someone was meant to cook it for you and didn't? I suspect the crying was due to a build up of things rather than the macaroni cheese (unless you REALLY love it).

Someone was meant to cook it for me, didn't realise they hadn't until I went to help serve up and there it wasn't

I once cried because dh ordered a pizza with a horrible combination of toppings. It just seemed all wrong, I couldn't understand why anyone would be so unreasonable!

I also got terribly upset one night when pregnant because dh said that he didn't like winnie the pooh - teary drama ensued and I was convinced that he was going to bring the baby upon playstation games! Ds now loves winnie the pooh

I get really quite emotional over food, especially, as you say, getting all excited anticipating a particular meal then being served something else. So no, yanbu, in my opinion as least!

I bought some Coke Zero to enjoy with my Monster Munch and Oreos - my weekend treat. I took a swig of the Coke Zero, it tasted like sewage, took a closer look and i had picked up Coke Zero with sodding cherry by mistake. My afternoon was ruined.

Moonbear, thanks I do try really hard! I LOVE macaroni cheese and understand your tears- my DH doesn't eat cheese sauce so I feel greedy having it - which is great!

Once, when I had been poorly, dh asked me what I would like for tea, and I asked for smoked cod with rice and cheese sauce - for me, that is perfect comfort food.

He made it with ready made cheese sauce from a jar - it was like sweaty-sock-sauce, not proper home made cheese sauce, and I could have cried. It was all over the fish too, and the rice, so they were polluted too.

I could have cried, so I know exactly how you feel.

I cried in a restaurant many years ago when the waiter brought me fucking rank, rubbery, revolting squid, as an alleged substitute for fish. It was overseas, things were lost in translation, and I was only 16 and a bit out of my depth having a romantic meal with a long distance boyfriend, but that doesn't excuse my publicly crying big, fat tears over a plate of squid .

Many, many years ago when I was a kid, a big six month long event was going to be in our town the following year. My mother and father both got season passes on their birthdays for my grandma, along with everyone else in the family. My birthday was last in the year. When I was the only one without a ticket, I cried, even though common sense would dictate that I would get one for my own birthday. I still feel ridiculous about it to this day.

I called my DM once to have a whinge, I can't remember what it was about, but it escalated to me crying and ended up with me sobbing down the phone "And worst of all, David Cameron is still Prime Minister!!!"

Poor DM said it took every ounce of resolve to try to remain sympathetic when she really wanted to burst out laughing. It makes me giggle now too. I think it was all PMS induced.

Cheese is amazing. Crying over spilt milk is silly. Crying over a lack of cheese is understandable. YANBU.
