To not want vaping liquids to be sold alongside sweets?

My local garage has replaced the mints along the top of the sweet display with around 40 different flavours of vaping liquid.

I realise these flavourings don't have nicotine in them, but they encourage people to mimic smoking which I don't agree with. I'm happy for people to vape if they want, but aibu to think they shouldn't be displayed along with the sweets?

The majority of liquids do have nicotine in and as such would be 18+ so no YANBU , I also think it is wrong to have addictive substances next to sweets.

Agree

I agree - I think they should actually be in the cigarette cupboard

They used to be behind the counter. I queried why they were there and the staff behind the till were totally silent.

Can anyone buy the flavoured liquids? No age restrictions?

E-cigs and liquid are age restricted to 18+

Changes to the law
On 1 October 2015 it became illegal:

for retailers to sell electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) or e-liquids to someone under 18

for adults to buy (or try to buy) tobacco products or e-cigarettes for someone under 18

to smoke in private vehicles that are carrying someone under 18

I presume the juices have no nicotine in them. Does that matter? Seems so wrong to have them mixed in with the sweets!

DrivingMeBonkers Mon 13-Feb-17 11:59:29

They do have nicotine in.

I don't believe they have to be in cabinets like cigarettes and tobacco, as we have specialised vaping shops locally with goods on display. I can't immediately find verification of that, though.

Give your local council trading standards a call, they will be able to assist.

Aren't there just fruit flavours that people vape with water? Like flavoured steam?

You can buy e-liquid with different flavours and different levels of nicotine. So you could get a strawberry flavour with 0mg nicotine or the same strawberry flavour with 12mg nicotine for example.
They have the same packaging and look the same.
I think they should all be kept behind the counter, e-cigarettes can not be purchased by under 18's so why would e-liquid be any different?

It's the same here, right next to the sweets and 'extras' by the till that they hope you'll pick up when paying.
They need to be behind the till with the cigarettes.
I think things will change once people become more aware of e cigarettes, apart from the over 18 rule, there aren't many restrictions on them. (I also think they need to be regulated)
