  • we are about to spend £120 billion extricating ourselves from the EU. That money is desperately needed in health and social care sectors.
  • many Leave campaign promises, voted for in good faith are untrue
  • millions of people directly affected by Brexit were not allowed a vote.

-the referendum was advisory. To have been binding, a supermajority would have been needed to make such a huge constitutional change.
  • Brexit is likely to result in the permanent break-up of the UK.
  • we are turning our back on our friends and allies of 40 years
  • EU citizens in the UK are uncertain of their rights and in many cases feel unwelcome.

I don't like particularly enjoy going to London, I hate crowds, but I HAVE to be at this march. Please consider attending and sharing this event. We are all victims of a fraudulent campaign and are facing a Tory hard destructive unopposed Brexit. I will NOT let this happen to my children without a fight.

You have the right to protest. Use it. I do not support what you are marching for but do what you think best.

"Brexit is likely to result in the permanent break-up of the UK."

I know and it's a marvellous thought; I'll decline your invite to join your campaign as I believe in true democracy and the right of the people to govern their own land; A right that has been diminished by the ruling elite of the EU - Scare mongering with your supposed key points of "facts" does nothing for me!

Some people honestly think once the first few years are out of the way, the dust has settled so to speak and we start making trade deals etc, that we;ll be far better off out of the EU than being in it.
Yes, getting to that point will mean a good few years of things looking bleak, but things could be SO much better afterwards than they are now.
Look at switzerland, thats the kind of country i hope we end up looking like (but with an nhs).

Carry on with your racist white march to support a failing sclerotic economy with my blessing.

Emarald very well said. Taxi for the OP!

Report

The march is racist and white because it is aiming to retain a white European trading and movement state with significant barriers to entry to non-white people outside the EU.
Brexit will enable the UK to trade and exchange labour with all countries across the world and not keep Africa (and black people) down with the current barriers to entry, particularly in agriculture.
The EU is fundamentally racist.

Good Scotland cost taxpayers in England far too much anyway.
I doubt Scotland is financially viable without the subsidies it receives from the rest of the UK, and income from North Sea oil

  • we are turning our back on our friends and allies of 40 years

No we aren't. We are just exiting a political and economic union that isn't good for our country. Not turning our back on anyone

  • EU citizens in the UK are uncertain of their rights and in many cases feel unwelcome.

If it's that awful here, they could just go home?

I would rather put my feet in boiling oil. Why would I want to march against something for which I have waited decades, which is an opportunity to vote Leave, to see this country leave the EU which will implode in due course in any event.

PS why don't you post on the EU Referendum board OP - 99% of the threads are from moaning, complaining, crying, doom and glooming, the world is coming to an end, the sky is falling, negative Remainers. I think you'll like it Grin

  • many Leave campaign promises, voted for in good faith are untrue

Name one
Here's two for starters:
£350million for the NHS
That we would not leave the Single Market.

  • millions of people directly affected by Brexit were not allowed a vote.

Everyone with the right to vote in the UK was allowed to vote
Not true: EU citizens who are allowed to vote in local & euro elections, pay tax & support the UK economy were denied a vote in the referendum.
.
-the referendum was advisory. To have been binding, a supermajority would have been needed to make such a huge constitutional change.
The government have taken the advice.
Yes & decided they have an "overwhelming mandate" given by a mere 37% of those of age to vote. A decision taken by an unelected PM (oh the irony) to satisfy her own anti-EU ideology.

  • Brexit is likely to result in the permanent break-up of the UK.

Good Scotland cost taxpayers in England far too much anyway.
I doubt Scotland is financially viable without the subsidies it receives from the rest of the UK, and income from North Sea oil
You're probably right. But then all those other EU-grant dependent areas in the rest of the UK will also go to shit because the government simply does not have the funds to continue the same level of financial input.

  • we are turning our back on our friends and allies of 40 years

No we aren't. We are just exiting a political and economic union that isn't good for
our country. Not turning our back on anyone.
  • Tell that to the remaining EU countries because this isn't the general consensus.

  • EU citizens in the UK are uncertain of their rights and in many cases feel unwelcome.

If it's that awful here, they could just go home?
Wow. Yes, because leaving their British spouses/children/families is that easy. You have no fucking idea.

I'm sorry, this is just not true.

I'm surprised by many statements on this thread, and will thin about some of them, but this argueent is plain ridiculous, and very demonstrably wrong.

That day was the worst flash floods in London for a decade, the whole transport system failed, at least tens of thousands of people could not get home in time to vote.

I personally was stranded on the DLR, and remember the fury and disbelief of several 100 people when the news came through that the hoped for and expected extension of poll station opening hours was not going to happen.

You might say it didn't matter, you might say all those people were intending to vote to leave anyway.....

You can say many things, but "everybody with a right to vote was allowed to vote is CERTAINLY not one of them.

Utter bollocks re Scotland points above, a quick look at official government statistics shows that Scottish taxpayers contribute more per capita.

If we're such scroungers then why was the Better Together campaign wanting to keep us in the union so much?

Some pretty foul people on this thread, OP, and yes, I absolutely will be marching because I won't stop until we have pulled our country back from the brink of insanity.
You need to preach to the choir on this one, though- as you've seen from the responses you've got above, this isn't one to win new hearts and minds, it's to galvanize the many people who think that events in Parliament this week signify the end. So I'm going to leaflet strong Remain areas about the March. Let them know someone is still fighting for them.
I'm sure you're already linked in with the various campaign groups, but if not please pm me and I'll send you some links.
Thank you for keeping going Flowers

Ujjayi we've heard it all before, too many times to mention [zzzzzz]

User1484226561 (catchy name) Leave won by nearly 1.3 million - I find it hard to believe that many people were washed away in the flood or I'm pretty sure it would have been on the news. You mention a few hundred people who would have made no impact on the outcome at all. Nice try but reeks of desperation..

When MP after MP says they think this it's an awful idea that will trash this county but vote it through because it's 'the will of the people', they need reminding it's only the will of some of the people.
