Will they take me seriously if I've had sex with him before and was drinking?

Will they question him straight away?

Ime, I spoke on the phone to a policeman who asked me why I was reporting it, then I was given a time and date to make a statement to a (female) officer at a police station which was recorded. The room itself was very much like a living room and you won't be rushed. X

Worried I reported an ex boyfriend with whom I had previously had consensual sex and was taken seriously, so yes. The police did not give me specific details but they did tell me when he was arrested and bailed. Flowers

Have you been in touch with the police yet?

I would imagine it depends how long ago the rape happened. If you haven't washed etc you will probably have to go for a medical (not sure that is the right term). If it's quite recent (as in tonight) I assume they would probably arrest quite quickly for evidence. I think they tend to try and arrest people quite quickly if it's happened very recently but I think if it's historic then it can take longer for an arrest

I have been through a rape type interview (sexually abused) and it was done (from memory over 10yrs ago) in a place that looked like a house. You sit in a room which is recorded and are asked questions. You will be allowed to take someone with you but they won't be allowed in the interview Flowers

It happened this morning.

It sounds stupid but I kind of went into shock and just thought "wtf" and then went to work like I normally do Blush.

Is it someone you live with OP? Are you safe?

Report
PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 11/02/2017 22:06

Do not wash any clothes/bedding. Even if you don't report it tonight as evidence will still be on them.

Just because you have consensual sex at one time doesn't mean it's up for grabs all the time. That's why rape in marriage is a crime.

It took me years to report the sexual abuse I went through. Even though nothing happened with it reporting it made it easier for me to deal with and move forward

Not someone I live with.

It was my ex. I went over to his to drop some things off but then he refused to let me leave until I'd had sex with him. When I refused he pushed me down and did it anyway.

I then went to work and just pretended nothing had happened Sad

Each area is different and it also depends on time scales.

I was collected from the street in a police car taken to the vulnerable victim unit at my local police station, I was interviewed on camera then taken to a room next door, waiting in there was a police doctor who checked me out and took various swobs and the such like, it was ascertained during this exam that I needed medical attention so I was then taken to the hospital.

I was then taken home.

I had a visit some weeks later from a police officer who told me that the cps had elected to not take it to court but that the 5 men involved had been re arrested for another rape and that that one was going to court.

Over 20 years later I have operation conifer show up on my doorstep needing me to relive it all

Am a rape detective, currently at work so can't type loads out, but the sooner you report the better. You will be taken seriously. I'd advise not to put loads of details here, wait to tell police.
