Either I'm terrible at maths or the police lie.

360 kg of coke.

Presuming a street value of around 40 - 50 a gram.

That's around 14 to 16 million? Where am I going wrong?

Surely the police wouldn't give such a blatant lie about value.

And it would have never have been sold in individual wraps, would it? So would have been worth less.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

Where can you get coke for £40-£50 a gram?

TinyBarista Fri 10-Feb-17 20:13:23

Worth more in that there Norfolk

EggsEleven Fri 10-Feb-17 20:13:59

Are you on about Great Yarmouth OP?

Superaspie Fri 10-Feb-17 20:14:08

360 kg of cocaine washed up in great Yarmouth.

Police are saying it's worth 50million.

I have limited knowledge of coke but I'm assuming this is a wild exaggeration.

AlexanderBerry Fri 10-Feb-17 20:14:11

Is this the drugs that were washed up on the beach?

Oysterbabe Fri 10-Feb-17 20:14:12

I don't know how much coke costs. Maybe it was very pure and they assume the weight will double when it's mixed with stuff?

ForeverLivingMyArse Fri 10-Feb-17 20:14:43

Is £50 still the going rate? I was paying that 15 years ago.

AlexanderBerry Fri 10-Feb-17 20:14:44

Crossed post

BlueDaBaDee Fri 10-Feb-17 20:15:04

It's more common to buy "pure" these days. £100 a gram. Still doesn't add up though, was £50mill they're claiming wasn't it?

BarbaraofSeville Fri 10-Feb-17 20:15:13

They've found a load of drugs on great Yarmouth beach. On our local news they said the value when cut, presumably into individual servings. I have no idea about drugs value or what it actually was but there was loads of it so a Mr big somewhere will be mightily pissed off.

Superaspie Fri 10-Feb-17 20:15:17

Frank told me the average price is around 45 pounds.
I paid 50 in my youth but that was over a decade ago.

Motherwithflaws Fri 10-Feb-17 20:15:17

It'll be pure uncut coke. Worth loads more when mixed with other things.

SuperBeagle Fri 10-Feb-17 20:15:31

Depends on the quality and the area.

FittonTower Fri 10-Feb-17 20:16:18

No idea what you're talking about but I've had dealers say to me (at work, not over canapés at a dinner party) that if they knew which street the police use to calculate "street value" they'd be there like a shot......

ForeverLivingMyArse Fri 10-Feb-17 20:16:29

But yeah assume the weight sold on the street would be doubled by the time it's been cut. Although teething powders are hard to come by now!

Gardencentregroupie Fri 10-Feb-17 20:16:37

Particularly pure cocaine can go for up to £200/g. If this was especially pure - and in such big bundles it may well not be cut much yet - that's easily £50 million.

Superaspie Fri 10-Feb-17 20:16:47

I never considered the cutting of it... still tho. I think 50mil is optimistic

justdontevenfuckingstart Fri 10-Feb-17 20:17:26

Yeah I was going to cut it up with tile adhesive but my bloody boat sank and we couldn't pick it up in time. OH is furious!

KC225 Fri 10-Feb-17 20:17:48

You posters are hilarious with your Asda rollback coke prices of yesterday

FlaviaAlbia Fri 10-Feb-17 20:20:03

Isn't it usually mixed with all sorts of stuff so you're paying £x for a gram that contains some cocaine rather than 1 gram of cocaine?

No idea how diluted it would get to do maths though.

user1471517900 Fri 10-Feb-17 20:20:03

The police will sell it to MPs and government officials, who will pay ridiculously overinflated, inefficient prices - ergo £50million.

Sorted.

TaraCarter Fri 10-Feb-17 20:20:33

No idea what you're talking about but I've had dealers say to me (at work, not over canapés at a dinner party) that if they knew which street the police use to calculate "street value" they'd be there like a shot...... grin
