Am I being a hypochondriac?

I will preface this by saying I have quite severe anxiety.

I went to the doctor yesterday as I had three days of sticky black stools (sorry!) She did a rectal exam, we had a chat about my alcohol consumption (high) and she told me to get a blood test immediately (had to go to the hospital as they don't do it in the surgery) and that she was referring me to the gastroenterologist for a colonoscopy.

Today I feel really unwell. Nausea, lightheaded, extreme fatigue. I couldn't do the school run and had to ask a friend. My whole tummy feels full and gripes. And now I have had a feel of my stomach while laid in bed and I have a hard lump in my middle abdomen area and my liver area feels bobbly.

I am driving myself mad. Do I need to go back to the gp? Should I just be waiting for my appointment and test results?

I'm in a bit of a state and dh won't be home for another hour.

Oh, and the gp didn't examine my stomach so that's what's got me spinning.

Phone the surgery and request a call back from a GP. Explain your symptoms and what's been done so far and see if they suggest you coming in.

Been back to see the doctor. Bloods are normal and my bp is normal so for now she says just watch and wait.

I feel horrendous.

Sorry to worry you but sticky black or plum coloured stools can be a medical emergency! Seek a second opinion!

If your alcohol intake is high you could have a bleeding ulcer. (Also goes with anxiety - brilliant combination) I would go to A&E as these things can go bad very quickly.

The doctor called me back in this morning. She's asked for an urgent ref for endoscopy and I have to have more bloods done on Monday.

I haven't been for a number two at all since Wednesday (when it was black and sticky) but she said when I do go if it's the same I should just go to A&E.
