Long long long story. But basically DS goes to a class on a weekend. Its really expensive but he enjoyed it so thought ok.

But kept being asked to take part in things for tv/newspapers which involved him taking time off school. I wasnt interested in any of this and told them. They seemed happy with this.

Didnt think any more of it but then one of owners was waiting for me when we arrived at weekend and really had a go at me in front of everyone because 'you really dropped us in it'.

Basically DH had been a vague on the phone when they had called about one these things and said DS 'probably wouldnt be able to do it' and left it like that.

Turns out they took that to mean that he would ring back only if a problem. He took that to mean he'd said no (DH .)

I was totally stunned to be greeted like this and really cross. Basically I see it as just paying for DH to have a nice time. Nothing more than that. And certainly not to provide them with a 'little star on tap'.

But when i get cross i cry - basic human deficiency.

So ended up crying in front of everyone and saying ' i cant believe i pay to be treated like this'.

He was very rude but basically said i was overreacting (true) and in the end I wrote them a note to say DS will leave at end of term.

(Anyone who reads this and was there will know who I am straight away

DS a bit sad but I said it was because they werent too organised and Ive found him another little class locally.

But would anyone else have been pissed off - or was the guy ?

Thanks to anyone who got this far!!!!

I think that he was a little sh*t and using your child IMHO

My kids go to stagecoach and at times they are given the opportunity to do things, but it would NEVER involve time out of school.

OK you cried I do that when I am angry, but he behaved v v badly

Sounds like an idiot and you won't be the only parent leaving if he keeps up that attitude. I'd tell him to shove it up his arse, whilst crying of course, because I do that too!!!!

Please tell me that this wasn't Stagecoach, if it was then I will take it up for you on your behalf.

Totally out of order, I would never in a million years do this.

Do they not know that to take time off school you need to apply for a performing or modelling licence from the LEA?

I should have read the rest of the thread first, phew!

We are regurlaly offered performing opportunities for the children. Each time I contact parents, usually by letter as I can then set down in writing exactly what is required and request a signed permission slip. The relevant licences are then applied for.

However there are many, many , many chilcdren who come just for enjoyment or confidence boosting.

We turned down filming with CBBC because we felt it was not in the best interests of our children, they wanted to come on the first day of term and keep the children in the dark about what was happening. Now on the first day of term you get lots of new children who are often a bit nervous and not sure what to expect. A local rival got the filming and publicity instead but I think we made the right decision.
