I'd find it odd too tbh

Still cringe at the memory of going to kiss an x-boyf's Mum on cheek and she went for same side, I moved and ended up kissing her on lips - ugh.

A kiss on the cheek would be more suitable I think.

As it is really bothering you, I think you should point out to him that you find it inappropriate.

Does he kiss his own mother on the lips? Maybe a family habit(and I thought my dh was bad )

Is your mother fine with it?

Don't think I would say anything, as he is not doing anything wrong as such. Might be more appropriate for your mum to turn her head if she wasn't keen.

What does your mum think?

another yuk no here. i'd get him to move it over to the cheek!

how did that start anyway? what did your mum do the first time he closed in with puckered lips? mine would have whacked dh with her handbag!

ILs do the same with dh and. hence, with me. I HATE it.

I think it differs from family to family tbh. My dh kisses his mum on the lips (a peck I hasten to add), and hugs his dad everytime they say goodbye.

But my family have never been that demonstrative, so I found it really weird and very cringeworthy when his M&D tried to kiss me goodbye. I think they've got the message now that I'm not comfy with it and don't do it so much.

I think you should talk to dh cos it's obviously bothering you. What does your Mum think about it?

my mums fine with it, well she's never complained (!) and she's a feisty woman so she wld say something if it bothered her. hmm, think its gone on too long to bring it up now. just they did it earlier and it reminded me to ask everyone here what they thought. wish i hadnt now!!!!!!

could be a family habit as others have suggested. My ILs always try to kiss me on the lips (well, I usually manage a last second divert to the cheek!) which I've always found very odd as my own family barely kiss at all, but it's obviously normal for them.

I went to kiss my MIL goodbye once, on the cheek, and she jumped back and went "oh no". Paused. And then said "I've got a cold". She's one of those really warm types!

I'd suggest not saying anything to your DH. I think it's pretty nice really. Lucky mum!
