always? often? I find it ait odd.

Budababe Tue 27-Feb-07 12:34:40

I'd find it odd too tbh

Still cringe at the memory of going to kiss an x-boyf's Mum on cheek and she went for same side, I moved and ended up kissing her on lips - ugh.

TnOg Tue 27-Feb-07 12:37:09

A kiss on the cheek would be more suitable I think.

nellyfin Tue 27-Feb-07 12:37:11

yeah. more often than not. lol btw budababe.

so what....should i say something to dh?

Troutpout Tue 27-Feb-07 12:38:08

eeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww gross

TnOg Tue 27-Feb-07 12:41:22

As it is really bothering you, I think you should point out to him that you find it inappropriate.

WanderingTrolley Tue 27-Feb-07 12:41:33

live and let live, we are repressed and untactile as a society, howe lovely he gets on well with her but...

yeuch

where are his hands when he's doing it

nellyfin Tue 27-Feb-07 12:42:44

oh nooooooooooooo. i was hoping everyone would say "fiiine, my dh and mum do it all the time". humph.

Mala Tue 27-Feb-07 12:42:49

Does he kiss his own mother on the lips? Maybe a family habit(and I thought my dh was bad )

Is your mother fine with it?

Don't think I would say anything, as he is not doing anything wrong as such. Might be more appropriate for your mum to turn her head if she wasn't keen.

TnOg Tue 27-Feb-07 12:42:56

What does your mum think?

mytwopenceworth Tue 27-Feb-07 12:43:11

another yuk no here. i'd get him to move it over to the cheek!

how did that start anyway? what did your mum do the first time he closed in with puckered lips? mine would have whacked dh with her handbag!

berolina Tue 27-Feb-07 12:43:44

ILs do the same with dh and. hence, with me. I HATE it.

LieselVentouse Tue 27-Feb-07 12:43:50

Does he slip her the tongue

WanderingTrolley Tue 27-Feb-07 12:44:45

larf and barf LieselVentouse!

pucca Tue 27-Feb-07 12:44:48

My FIL always goes for the lips, but he always gets my cheek (swift turn of the head!) urgh!

yacketyblah Tue 27-Feb-07 12:46:01

I think it differs from family to family tbh. My dh kisses his mum on the lips (a peck I hasten to add), and hugs his dad everytime they say goodbye.

But my family have never been that demonstrative, so I found it really weird and very cringeworthy when his M&D tried to kiss me goodbye. I think they've got the message now that I'm not comfy with it and don't do it so much.

I think you should talk to dh cos it's obviously bothering you. What does your Mum think about it?

nellyfin Tue 27-Feb-07 12:48:55

my mums fine with it, well she's never complained (!) and she's a feisty woman so she wld say something if it bothered her. hmm, think its gone on too long to bring it up now. just they did it earlier and it reminded me to ask everyone here what they thought. wish i hadnt now!!!!!!

geekgrrl Tue 27-Feb-07 12:49:49

could be a family habit as others have suggested. My ILs always try to kiss me on the lips (well, I usually manage a last second divert to the cheek!) which I've always found very odd as my own family barely kiss at all, but it's obviously normal for them.

Troutpout Tue 27-Feb-07 13:28:52

oh come now wandering trolley...we all thought it!

SidtheKidsMum Tue 27-Feb-07 14:06:08

I went to kiss my MIL goodbye once, on the cheek, and she jumped back and went "oh no". Paused. And then said "I've got a cold". She's one of those really warm types!

I'd suggest not saying anything to your DH. I think it's pretty nice really. Lucky mum!
