AIBU?

to think putting your bins out at 5.50am is bloody inconsiderate!

I have hardly slept, was just drifting off and my neighbour decides to put out their bins. This involves bumping the bins down a couple of steps which of course can't be done quietly!
Aibu to think that putting out your bins any time before 7am is just inconsiderate?

I want to live in the middle of a field with no neighbours. It's the only way!

Depends what time they have to go to work, surely? You'll have people complain if bins are put out the night before.

YABU.
My council says bins must be out and ready for collection by 7am.
Most people put theirs out the night before but it's not that big a deal. No different from people leaving for work around 6 am and hearing their cars.

Posted too soon! I tend to put them out in the evening though. Sometimes if I'm home late I don't though because I think 11.30pm is probably worse than 5.50am.

I think you're probably being a bit U. They've got to get their bins out. Annoying to be woken up when you're not ready though.

Well they might not be home at 7? I leave for work at 7.

Depends on area and work surely? Ours are already collected by 7am so every leaves out the night before.

We have to put ours out by 7am, which is round about the time we leave the house so they go out much earlier. We can't put them out overnight because of foxes.

Not sure when you expect people to put their bins out really. Maybe just get some ear plugs :P

It's a bugger when you can't sleep but that isn't the neighbour's fault is it.

We put ours out in the morning before we leave for work, wouldn't do it the night before. Maybe they do it that way too.

I think it's fine but sorry you didn't sleep well Brew

Ours have to be out by 6am too. At least the bin men haven't shown up at 6 making much much more noise emptying them!

Mine have to be out by 6. And the pavement is so narrow, putting them out the night before would inconvenience all the passersby.

YABU.

It's not your neighbour's problem you didn't sleep well. Hmm

Our bin guys come by at 6-7am, so either you drag your ass out of bed early in the morning, or you make sure all of your stuff is in the bin and it's out the night before (not wise in dicey weather).

If your neighbour was responsible for your poor night's sleep, that's one thing. But otherwise, you're definitely being unreasonable.

I'm sorry you've had trouble sleeping but your neighbours haven't done anything wrong. My bins have to be out before 7am and I can't put them out the night before because they'll be attacked by wildlife (rural here). I sometimes have to leave for work at 6am so my bins do occasionally go out that early.

YABU.What time will you put your bins out?

Report
Oblomov17 · 06/02/2017 06:39

YABVU. Our bin men collect before 7am, I'm sure!! 6am, or 6.30am, I think. People thus should put them out the night before. Most people do.
Maybe you could ask your neighbour to be quieter? Or better still, why are you only 'dropping off' at 5.50am? If you are having problems getting to sleep then maybe you should concentrate on that, rather than focusing on your neighbour?

I might be being a bit unreasonable but the rest of the street put them out the night before.
If they didn't have to bump them down the steps then it wouldn't bother me.
I can't wear earplugs, I've tried but they annoy me.

7am here too. I don't put them out the night before because they have been known to get knocked over, what a nightmare they'd be, recycling strewn all over the place. I don't slam down lids and am able to go down steps pretty quietly. Halo

Mine go out earlier than your neighbours OP. I put mine out when i am going to work. My bins get collected every other week so its not like its a huge nuisance.

What I've come to realise is - mostly neighbours will be inconsiderate of others. And therefore at some point, without realising, you will also be inconsiderate of your neighbours.

It's really rotten you didn't sleep well, but there's always tomorrow, when I'm sure the bins don't need to be out.

NeverTwerkNaked · 06/02/2017 06:48

Poor you, having a bad nights sleep is awful.
Our bin men come not long after 6 though, so if for some reason I forget the night before then I would have to pop them out as soon as I realised in the morning!

Our bin man come between 7-8am. Bins out after that miss the bin. yabu. Its not your neighbour fault you cant sleep. I bet they off to work so doing it before going off. One of my neighbours leaves for work at 2am his car is noisy but i always snuggle down and think im lucky to still be in my bed.

Ours can be collected from 6:00 onwards. If you leave them out overnight they can get blown over (great fun picking up all the recycling from all over the front lawn) or the foxes can get to them so I put ours out as soon as I get up at 6:00. When the schools are off I pop down, put them out and go back to bed. I can then hear everyone else putting theirs out over the next half hour or so but that's life.

We are not allowed to have our bins out the night before and need to be out by 7 so ours go out at 6 although the bin wagons have been known to be out before 7 Hmmspeak to your neighbour and ask if they can put them out the night before but be prepared for them to say no. Yes you ABU but you can come up with a solution if you speak to your neighbour after all it's not their fault you've had a shit nights sleep, hope your back feels better soon.
