To call the police?

We're not in the UK. We're in Oz.

The other night about 9.00pm I saw a police car pull up outside my house. I knew they were coming here as the houses are set far apart. They knocked and asked for...let's call it "Rhiannon"

"Are you Rhiannon Jones?"

I said "no." and they looked very confused and said "Oh...does Rhiannon Jones and Mr Tom Bradley live here?" and I said "No...it's me and DH...we've rented this place just 3 weeks ago"

They said "Who lived here before?" and I said "I've no idea...we got it through an agency"

They asked me which agency so I told them and they went.

They left and then it dawned on me that one of my neighbours...she's known as let's say "Rhia" a short version of the name they asked for.

It's a very unusual name.

She lives at 47 and I live at 57. Both houses are on the same side but separated by a big reastaurant.

Should I let them know I realised? If they didn't know where she lived, it's likely that they weren't looking for her because she'd called them but rather they don't know where she is and they now need to speak to her over something gone by.

Shall I call the station...non emergency and tell them or forget about it?

Let them know. It'll only take 2 mins.

Yep, I'd let them know (non emergency line). The fact that they knocked at after normal sociable hours and then accepted that you weren't Rhiannon immediately made me think next of kin Sad but hopefully there'll be a positive otcome.
