AIBU?

To be really concerned about child health in the UK now?

I just read this article in the Guardian

www.theguardian.com/society/2017/jan/25/poverty-in-the-uk-jeopardising-childrens-health-warns-landmark-report?utm_content=bufferf0da0&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer

And I couldn't believe the figures! How can the UK have some of the highest child mortality rates in Europe!? How!?

The read is a depressing one but is it all true? Really?

Thats terrifying, and disgusting.
Its very telling that the situation has changed so drastically under one government.

Yes it is isn't it!? I know the UK has never been perfect in my lifetime...I'm 40 now...but have we always had this sort of infant mortality rate!? Surely not!

"In England’s most deprived areas, 40% of children were overweight or obese in the last year, compared to 27% in the most affluent."

Bit miffed why they are linking a high level of child deaths to only 34% babies not being breastfed by six month a in the UK. Not aware many children die due to being bottle-fed? Plus that doesn't tie in to their opening statement that the majority of deaths are from cancer and congenital deformities etc.

The leading causes are cancer, injuries, poisonings, congenital conditions and developmental disorders.

None of those are due to any government.

A majority of the infant deaths are due to prematurity.
