AIBU?

To think 'Holo-course' is offensive?

Disney channel kids to show - Miles from Tomorrow.

My DS 5 loves it and today there was an episode that included a rollercoaster called the Holo-course. I'm assuming it's a mash-up from hologram and racecourse but still...it's a bit...er...not right? AIBU?

are you comparing it to holocaust?

Sorry, but I have no idea what you mean?

Like the pp, are you comparing it with holocaust? Because it didn't look like holocaust to me.

I don't see the problem.

Ok it wasn't written down, it was said. In a whiny child's American accent. Both DH and I picked up on it, and we usually manage to tune the crap out. So yes, it sounded like holocaust.

You're reading to much into it.

Context is key, and in the context of the show, it makes sense and YABU to think anything else

I'm with the OP here. A fictional ride called a holo course? If the similarity isn't intentional then I'd be surprised. That's in very bad taste.

Under, I've reported your personal attack which will be deleted. You've embarrassed yourself there.

I agree its in bad taste.
Bear in mind in the USA people use words like 'spastic' and 'retard' as insults without a second thought.

I'm with the OP. They could've called it Holo-run, Holo-way, many other things. Sounds deliberately goady to me.

Found this on a wikis site.

disney.wikia.com/wiki/Stellosphere

It does sound odd, but it seems innocent.

But niggardly is a real word. This is about something made up which sounds a lot like holocaust.

do think they could have a different name for though, why tell under off ?they know they are an idiot, as for reporting it ?? Confused

Personal attacks are against talk guidlines. Calling someone an idiot is a personal attack - hence reporting it. It's. It that hard to understand.

There's absolutely no need for it.

I totally agree OP. Many people don't pronounce their 't's so when you say the word, it's like saying Holocaust.

As for Undersea - even if you don't agree there's no need to be so rude!

I think the internet is just full of people desperate to be offended.

I couldn't see the holocaust thing from the thread title (with no context) and certainly wouldn't have noticed if they were talking about some kind of holographic space racecourse.
