AIBU?

To just stay in...

How often do you stay in all day/ all weekend and not leave the house?
We all work/ go to school Monday to Friday and we all have a busy schedule.
More & more often, when the food shopping is done, we don't leave the house at the weekend at all.
We all potter around cooking, watching films, doing the washing, lazing around, reading, doing HW.
AIBU to not make the effort to go anywhere?
We were always out and about when DC were younger. (Teenager DC here now.)
AIBU to think that we all need these days at home or am I just being lazy?

Not lazy at all. We all pay a small fortune on rent and mortgages to live in our homes, so why not enjoy them? I love pottering at home.

I'm a bit like this too, teenagers here as well. I take them places and drop them off. When they're a bit older I'd like to go out a bit more, visit places etc. It's not that I don't like pottering at home- I do, but I feel there is so much to see in the world that I'm missing out a. It if I'm at work all week and at home all weekend

I had this exact conversation yesterday! When dc were small our weekends were filled with taking them places and 'family time'.

Now they are teenagers we barely move and I'm past feeling guilty now, everyone seems happy and chilled....

I obviously take dogs out, sometimes they come with me Wink

Yep teenagers here too. I often don't leave the house on a Sunday. DS1 can now drive to his P/T job and DS2 goes out with friends locally.

I am currently in bed watching Sunday Brunch with no plans to get up any time soon.

YANBU.

Agree with PP, when DC were little my weekends were hellish endless trips to parks/fairs/parties/picnics etc etc.

Now it's bliss. I met friends for a lovely pub lunch yesterday, and will spend all day today in my PJs. Teens are off doing their own stuff.

I would say about once a month I will spend a whole weekend indoors reading, watching TV, catching up on housework. I am very extrovert and have a job that involves me interacting with people all week. By the weekend I appreciate a bit of "crash time."

We have no DC but often just stay in. I like to read, watch YouTube, do craft stuff or simple watch my kittens play. DP is similar. Sometimes we will go for a walk or a drive out to the country but I find if I go out, it invariably involves shops and I spend too much money on things I don't need.

So many Sunday afternoons spent at children's birthday parties at soft plays etc. I do not miss that.

No YANBU at all. We all work hard all week, it's nice to be able to relax at home at the weekend, especially when it's so cold. When my sons were little I used to have to be out as it drove me mad being in, so we'd spend the weekend going to clubs, swimming, soft play, etc. Now they're teens they do their own thing, I give them lifts if they need it. Other than that, once the shopping and dog walking s done I'm quite happy to be at home. Stops me spending money as well!

dalmation That's it exactly, everyone is always happy and relaxed! I'll give lifts and we often have their friends to stay but when it's just our family, we don't go anywhere!

Yes Navy it's not worth getting out of bed for. I might peruse Argos and send him out for it. Grin

Saturdays are busy still, but we stay in all day on Sundays - we really need it after a busy week! Dc are 8, 7 and 5, so still quite little!

I agree with the poster above, we have spent lots of hard earned money to buy our house, decorate our house and get it just right, why shouldn't we enjoy it when we are all out all week?

I am currently in bed with DS (3) we are having breakfast and snuggling up and he is watching CBeebies, I'm MNetting. Soon we will get up move down stairs and he will play with toys and I may bake something. DH working today but yesterday we pretty much relaxed and pottered about, washed the cars, cooked a roast etc.

Love a lazy day!

I have a toddler and do generally have to take him out for an airing each day or he ends up climbing the walls (and driving me up them) Sunday is the only day DH and I can spend together as well due to work so we do tend to go on family outings and make the most of the time.

But every couple of weeks we have a lazy Sunday at home. Today is one of those. DS is watching Despicable Me for the billionth time, DH is cooking us breakfast and I'm slobbing and mumsnetting.
I feel a bit guilty, but everyone is happy so far and DH and I will get some house stuff done when DS is napping so it won't be a completely wasted day.

This time of year we have at least one weekend day indoors. Kids are 2 and 4. 4yo is full time at preschool and 2yo is in childcare 9am-5.30pm Weds-Fri so they are both usually shattered come the weekend.

This weekend they have coughs and colds so it will be a weekend in. Last weekend we went to the zoo all day Saturday and softplay / out for lunch on Sunday so it was a very busy weekend.

When the weather is nicer we rarely have days in though.

You should be able to do what you like without worrying what people think of you. Enjoy your weekends doing whatever you like!

I expect the clubs / parties etc will begin once DC1 starts school in September!! For the time being I'm making the most of no weekend commitments.
