People parking across our garage

I know, it's a parking one but I'm getting increasingly annoyed with the whole situation now!

We have a garage attached to our house, there's a dropped kerb, white line and a sign up regarding parking/access. It's a terraced street, residents permit zone and by evening parking is obviously limited.

We did park our car on the street and store DH motorbike in the garage but we've had damage to our car recently (drunken idiots on way home). Last weekend we had our wing mirror smashed and dog poo smeared on handle. Ours isn't the only car being damaged. So we've started using the garage to park in.

We went round all the neighbours and told them this and politely said you can't obstruct the garage at all anymore as we'll need access. DH works random shifts, I am heavily pregnant and we also have 3 young children.

I have had to call either 101 or out of hours council at least 8-10 times over the past fortnight as we've been blocked it and either DH is off to work or I've had appointments or places to be.

They still park over the garage, a neighbour just parked there now and DH said sorry you can't park there. Man said oh I'm not bothered there's no where else to park. WTF do you say to that? WIBU to have him moved? What if I have to go to the hospital or something happens and I need to get out?

Keep reporting them. You aren't being the nuisance. . They are.

Gosh I am not sure. I suppose you have to keep calling police.

Hopefully they will adjust in time?

I know, I just feel so guilty calling 101 I suppose.

101 try and get a phone number from the DVLA records of the car, call the owner and ask them to move. If they can't get a phone number they would arrange for the car to be towed away. They've always managed to phone the people so far.

Have them moved. Each and every time. Cause them enormous hassle now before it's an emergency and you really do need your car. Can you leave the garage door open so that they can see there is actually a car in it or would that attract the drunken thugs?

Dont feel guilty, it states in the Highway code not to park there.

Sit on the bonnet and bounce til the alarm goes off. Tel him, like it's not glaringly obvious, that you're pregnant and may need to get the car out at any time. Get him towed. Police will be very sympathetic. What a wanker.

Thanks everyone for making me see I'm not just being precious about it.

We can't leave door open unfortunately as we store stuff in there too like tools, kids bikes etc.

We have spoken to everyone we know and let them know but some people clearly don't give a toss!

The police have been great about it but the council have been next to useless. They'll send a traffic warden to ticket them during the day but quite often they've only given them an "advisory notice" not a fine!

Let the tyres down every time they park there. A warning off the council isn't going to inconvenience them.
