AIBU to complain about this teacher?

I have 7 sons. They have all been through the same secondary school and my eldest 6 were very sporty and involved in a lot of teams. My youngest is the opposite and while he does enjoy a particular sport (he boxes) he doesn't excel at other sports and tbh he has quite bad coordination so does struggle. He also has issues with his joints (which the school are aware of) that are worse when he is exposed to cold weather.

There is one particular PE teacher that my youngest has never really got on with. DS is quite sensitive and I think this teacher has been a bit hard on him in the past. He is teaching him this year.

Today the class were split and half stayed inside and half stayed outside. DS put on his under armour and some gloves and went outside. The PE teacher said he couldn't wear them as they aren't uniform. DS then said he will go inside then as the cold will cause him pain. The PE teacher started back at him saying he had to stay outside.

DS6 (who is 17) was playing football with his friends nearby and saw them getting annoyed with each other. He went over and basically said 'oh he can't be in the cold' and the teacher replied 'right then bugger off inside' and then turned around to DS6 and said 'are you sure your parents didn't adopt him' DS then said 'what' and he said 'well he can't kick a ball in a straight line and apparently falls apart at the first bit of cold'

My youngest heard this and became quite upset so DS6 told the teacher he should apologise. He refused, it escalated and they ended up arguing until another teacher came and removed DS6 and DS7. They are both in isolation tomoorw for being rude to the teacher and when they tried to explain what had happened the deputy head apparently refused to listen.

Usually I hate complaining about teachers (and I think they normally do I great job) but WIBU to complain?

My youngest is still upset and I just think the comment was really inappropriate.

Teacher was definitely in the wrong awful thing to say (I am a PE teacher) i'm genuinely shocked by his behaviour. Agreed that your other son was great to stick up for his younger brother hope it's sorted tomorrow

Definitely complain, but while you're at it, DS6 needs a LOT of praise! What a great guy for standing up for his brother!!! That was genuinely brave an honorable. Teacher has behaved in a disgusting manner and needs a professional bollocking.
