AIBU?

To be utterly fed up of what a fat blob I am?? (Not even calorie counting is working!)

God I'm irritated. I'm 5ft 10 and now weight 10st 13lbs (as of this morning 😒).

I look flabby and frumpy and want to weigh 10st.

Before Christmas I was calorie counting and losing every week. Got to 10st 7lbs. It went tits up over Christmas but now I'm back on it - on the same amount of calories (1450) and I'm putting weight ON!!! I'm so frustrated I don't know what to do. I never go over my calories so why would I put weight on all of a sudden? No change in exercise amounts either.

I do suffer with chronic constipation if which the dr has insisted I take Laxido - so now I look 6 months pregnant too. Excellent.

So fed up and actually considering surgery.

Just to add I have a holiday coming up in May so the pressure to lose for that is increasing. I'll be gutted if I have to go looking like this. Feel awful 😩

5 foot 10 and 10 stone something is hardly a fat blob. Get a grip.

13lbs is not a big weight loss. Is 1450 calories the right amount for you?

What are you eating on an average day?

I know clinically I'm not over weight but it's how you feel isn't it? I look fat. I wobble. My belly sticks out. My boobs are huge. I never used to be this big and I can't stand it.

I'm 5 2 and 11 stone I think, and do look fat, though strangely not hugely so. I can't believe you are a fat blob. You probably don't even need to lose weight, unlike me.

Well this is embarrassing.. I'm 5ft 10 and weigh almost two of you.. Now that is a fat blob! ShockBlushBlush

But you feel how you feel, you're probably finding it harder because you don't have much to lose. I can't offer any advice for obvious reasons.. But I hope you get there soon! Smile

Have you tried Slimming World? I have tried calorie counting, reducing what I ate, no carbs and none of it worked properly for me. My weight would constantly yo-yo. I've been doing SW since August and I've lost a fair bit and managed to keep it off. Also helps my digestion massively.

Porridge for breakfast
Homemade cottage pie for lunch
Homemade chicken noodles for tea - that's a typical day.

Your BMI is 21.9. Confused

You're right in the middle of the healthy range.

What was your starting weight? 6lbs isn't a massive amount to have gained but I understand if you're feeling sluggish and yuck.

Have you tried 5:2? Very very good for insulin resistance/bringing blood sugar down and cutting risk of type 2 diabetes.

Try bio kult pills for balancing your gut flora, also kefir (can buy it in 1l bites from sainsbo/polish shop) in the evenings, and as a "meal" on fast days

If you don't do fast days, try limiting yourself to "eating windows". When I was doing stimulation during IVF my doc had me on a low carb, higher fat & protein diet, where I ate probably around 1,800 cals a day but within 2 eating blocs - lunch and dinner in my case. Gives your body "time off" and stops your pancreas constantly working and producing insulin. This then limits testosterone production and helps to keep pcos in check. I didn't do it to lose weight, but by the end of my ivf cycle I'd dropped nearly half a stone. I don't see it as sustainable (I was tracking macros etc so far too "obsessive") but I will absolutely be getting back into the 2 eating windows again after pregnancy and potentially do 5:2 if I need to lose weight.

It's shit feeling sluggish and lumpy, and not shitting makes it 100x worse. I find the senna tablets off boots are quite good. Or a "salt water flush" - where you take a senna at night then drink a litre of salty water first thing. Don't go out cos it goes STRAIGHT through you and you need toilet access! HIIT runs makes me need to go too.

Fundamentally, hold onto the feelings of "ugh" and use it to motivate you to get on track. You can do it!!

Ripped out..
You are overweight, true. BUT...
As long as you are doing something and working to become more healthy, you are not a fat slob.

I do sympathise with the difficulty of loosing weight. My DP is insulin dependant. Insulin makes you feel hungry. It never goes away even after eating. The choice is stark. Be hungry and obese or be hungry and healthy. There is no option to not be hungry... but somehow she managess to keep her weight under control. It became less difficult when the realisation about hungry always being part of life became apparent.

Good luck

If you're constipated that will make your belly stick out. It sounds like you need to address that rather than dieting.

Take no notice of the comparison posts, you can't argue a feeling & if you're feeling that way, then that is your reality.
Work on an 80/20 ratio. 80% diet, 20% exercise. Eat things in moderation & get involved with a high fat burn activity, that also tones. Maybe boot camp, spin or circuit training. Good luck Smile

Whilst I agree it's about how you feel I think you need to think about your BMI and how you see your body. I don't think you'll get much empathy on here to be honest.

Oh fuck off you lot, someone is allowed to be unhappy with the way they look even if they're not obese!

Have you tried slimming world way of cooking? I do SW, but I don't eat all the sugar laden crap yogurts and hi fi bars and stuff. Lost 7lbs so far this month, so really it's just using lower fat mince in your cottage pie, no butter in your mash, lots of vegetables to bulk it out

I'm the same height as you & am 13st 1
I certainly do not look like a fat blob in fact at your weight it would be almost impossible to look like a "fat blob" especially with your height.

I'm pretty sure you've come on here just for the "you're not fat" comments.

If you feel flabby it's nothing to do with food, you need to tone up & do more weights.

Cottage pie is really quite a heavy/calorific lunch. And what are your portion sizes like? Not criticising, just trying to help you understand what might be going on.

Have you tried a Fitbit? You can use it to set a weight loss goal, and it will calculate how many calories you need to be 'in deficit' every day to achieve it. Then it will calibrate your calories eaten vs calories consumed throughout each day as you take exercise, move around etc.

I've lost 7lb in three weeks and it's really not been that much effort at all.

And I can completely understand why this might seem bonkers to PP who are struggling with higher weights. But everyone is different and your weight can not feel right to you, even if it might seem OK to other people. (Disclaimer - if we are talking about healthy people who don't have an eating disorder, of course)

I've been dieting for three weeks. Little group at work doing the same. Just had our first weigh in yesterday and I have put on 3lb! Can't believe that the sacrifices I've made during the last couple of weeks haven't paid off, and having a hard time convincing the group that I haven't cheated. Feel so demoralised so I feel your pain.

Bless you

I'm a bit taller than you and i always get told 'you don't need to lose weight!' Maybe it's just easier to hide on a taller body, I don't know!

I'm doing exante which is pretty extreme, but good luck with your weight loss Flowers

also - go weight lifting. When I did exercise properly the ONLY thing that changed my body shape was body pump classes. I think your weight itself is fine but you probably have a high fat %, so feel you look shit. If you are not a gym member look up your local leisure centre and find body pump/weight classes. They're brilliant for changing your shape. I'm skinny fat myself, so know what it's like to be "thin" but where EVERYTHING ripples and is dimply!
