Just listened to CM on Desert Island discs. She has so stolen my choices. As I have not yet reached peak fame (or any fame) I am still awaiting my invitation for Desert Island discs, but that doesn't stop me practicing with an imaginary Kirsty during quiet moments when I'm by myself. One day, when I reach my prime (in which field I haven't yet decided) I will be invited onto said Radio 4 show.

But I can't choose the discs I want as she already chose 5 of the 8 songs I wanted. How very dare she take for herself Common People and Vogue, plus songs by the Beatles, Kate Bush and David Bowie.

What Bowie track did she choose? My Pulp Desert Island disc is Disco 2000,largely for sentimental reasons.

Agree though. The only reason I would seek fame would be to get the opportunity to do DID and Room 101. I have a lot of love and hate in me.

On a more serious note she reckons that she was hugely inspired by Kate Bush on top of the pops in 1978/9 she was maximum 4 years old

That and a few years ago she said on twitter she wasn't that bothered about the Kate Bush concert as she "never really liked her music" but felt priviliedged to go

Really irritates me when people lie to look hip, just be honest!

Hepzibar Sun 22-Jan-17 21:09:53

Rock n roll suicide was the Bowie track she choose

beanfilledfish Sun 22-Jan-17 21:10:43

sounds pretty bland choices for a rock n roll writer

Wheredidallthejaffacakesgo Sun 22-Jan-17 21:12:43

Ooh, I like disco 2000 too but i probably would have gone for Common People. I'd have chosen different Beatles and Bowie tracks but still would have chosen them.

TrollTheRespawnJeremy Sun 22-Jan-17 21:13:01

I'm inspired by Kate Bush although I don't like/enjoy her entire catalogue. That's a valid opinion.

And most of my favourite musical artists were functioning before I was born... why is that a problem?

Why must this be a lie??

ShowMePotatoSalad Sun 22-Jan-17 21:21:30

She could have been inspired by something that was originally shown when she was 4, through the magic that is video. There are performances from the 50s and 60s that I am hugely inspired by, and I was born in the late 80s. Thank God for celluloid, that's all I can say.

BellonaBelladonna Sun 22-Jan-17 21:22:50

Vogue? as in Madonna? Seems a little incongruous with her other choices

MavisGrind Sun 22-Jan-17 21:22:54

Not entirely related but I heard This Woman's Work by Kate Bush on the radio the other day for the first time in years and the first time since I've had children. I was a wreck by the end of it.
Oh, and Common People for me.

Moominmammaatsea Sun 22-Jan-17 21:23:13

No, she did choose Common People.

BellonaBelladonna Sun 22-Jan-17 21:24:21

Mavis me too! Its breaks me that song!

MavisGrind Sun 22-Jan-17 21:26:56

Bellona - I've just looked on YouTube and turned it off after the opening chords. <wails afresh>

EastMidsMummy Sun 22-Jan-17 21:27:28

Kate Bush is a shit 70s novelty act, but certainly engaging to a 4 year old. Why not?

CommunionHelp Sun 22-Jan-17 21:29:29

I was singing Kate Bush at 4. Wuthering Heights was absolutely entrancing to me!

beanfilledfish Sun 22-Jan-17 21:29:49

wtf nooo kate bush is fab the rest of her choices are a bit mainstream

Wheredidallthejaffacakesgo Sun 22-Jan-17 21:29:59

Vogue is awesome: that video was the start of a new and much more powerful phase for Madonna's music

MavisGrind Sun 22-Jan-17 21:32:04

shit 70s novelty act shockshockshock
I'm assuming you're referring to another Kate Bush?

EastMidsMummy Sun 22-Jan-17 21:33:56

The Wuthering Heights one. Is there a good one?

Recentlylazy Sun 22-Jan-17 21:33:59

Beatles Twist and Shout. Not written by them so often overlooked. It's my fav and it's her" if you could only take one disc..."

theaveragewife Sun 22-Jan-17 21:35:29

Borderline and do you remember the first time, or this is hardcore....for me grin

BellonaBelladonna Sun 22-Jan-17 21:35:29

No. Not having 'shit novelty act'.

GloriaGaynor Sun 22-Jan-17 21:35:37

I thought she was going to be dead after last year's celebrity bonfire.

theaveragewife Sun 22-Jan-17 21:36:13

Kate Bush........meh
