To push DD to go to her awards evening??

I don't know how to write my title, by push I just mean majorly encourage?? She is receiving an award for her volunteering and this charity does an awards evening for all them. It's tomorrow night and she was all happy and is now just like "mum, I really don't want to do it". We don't even know what it entails and may not be 'embarrassing' like she thinks. She might be called up and get a photo but that's the worst it would be.

She doesn't have an anxiety disorder, etc.

WIBU to push/majorly encourage her to do it?

I think it's a bit mean, does she have to go to get the award? If not, I don't see the issue with her just collecting it another time.

Imagine if none of them went. The charity is going to the bother of showing appreciation for their efforts. Unless she has a good reason not to go I would expect her to. Just being all "whatever" about it wouldn't count.

Of course she doesn't have to go. Lovely that she's being given an award, but she didn't ask for it. I'm a perfectly confident person but I've always hated all the fuss of ceremonies - I never went to leavers' events, my own graduation etc. Leave the decision up to her.
