We rent and our letting agent told me that if we have an emergency on weekends, to call the office and the call will be directed to a member of staff's mobile....staff members take it in turns to be on call in this way.

So we've got a plumbing emergency in that neither of our toilets are working, one is pumping waste into the garden when it's flushed...so we have no access to a toilet now.

I called an hour ago...no call back. She didn't pick up so I left a message.

I'm seriously not happy. I have three kids in the house and I have asked our local pub if they don't mind if we use their loo...they've assured me it's fine but we can't do this all day and night!

It's a trot down the high street and I don't particularly want to take the kids in there at night...it's daytime here in Oz.

How long is reasonable to wait before I get pissed off?

I'd be pissed off now. I get that they might miss the initial call, but if they are specifically on call that weekend then they should be calling back within half an hour, maximum! I would call again a few more times.

Good luck!

I thought that CUrly.....our emergency is pretty bad but it could be worse! IMagine if the effluent was coming IN to the house instead of out? Or if the pipes had burst or something?

they have their own plumbers etc so I couldn't just call one and charge it to them....so I will be having strong words.

Are you on a shared sewerage pipe i.e. You and a neighbor? So long as you're not in s blockmof flats if sewerage is going into the ground ring your sewerage provider, it's now their responsibility and should see to any blockage free of xharfe

I'm guessing that the person who's supposed to be on the end of that phone is going to be in BIG trouble when this comes to light.

Phone/text regularly (hourly-ish) and keep records.
