With some pasta and sauce and stuff... and then decided I didn't trust them and picked them out (after tasting two- tasted normal but I chucked them anyway) and eat everything else...

will I still get food poisoning?

If they look OK and more importantly smell ok, it will be fine. It's only 1 day.

Given they would have almost certainly been fine in the first place, I'd be very surprised!

I think today is fine, tomorrow is not.

I think you'll be fine. Smell is really obvious with off prawns.

Why do you think you'll get food poisoning? Did they smell and taste fine? Pretty good yardstick with fish and seafood. Things don't become deadly on the stroke of midnight. We should all trust our senses a little rather than treat labels as gospel.

I've never really smelled uncooked prawns before and I was cooking with garlic and mushrooms and stuff which have quite a strong smell themselves... but they'd gone eeeeever so slightly pink and I just wasn't sure.
I haven't chucked them though, might put them back in the fridge and eat them tomorrow if the two I ate don't make me sick!

Eat them tomorrow but not tonight seems crazy given you're concerned about food poisoning!

Trust me if they were off they'd taste and smell fishy

Good sniff, go with your instincts.
Think about all the market stalls that sell sea food. They don't have 'sell buy dates'. You'll know if they don't smell ok, believe me.

Seafood and fish that have gone off are pretty obvious. You almost certainly would have been fine eating them.

Ok Mn jury. The prawns are going back in...
See you on the other side!

If they were off then yes food poisoning. But they were almost certainly absolutely fine and I wouldn't have batted an eyelid at eating them.

They don't suddenly turn bad 1 minute after midnight Smile
