AIBU?

Mold in Sophie the Giraffe' scandal

AIBU to think that this mother is not telling the full story to create a baby toy hygiene scandal? The toy is dirty and horrible on the outside as well as on the inside FGS.
No way has it been 'cleaned according to instructions' . It looks like it's been left in the garden all winter.
It has also obviously been in water. Squidgy bath toys always go moldy if water is left in them.
AIBU to think this is all about compensation?

Biggest problem with Sophie is the fact you can't submerge her in water

Do that and she loses her squeaker...which isn't the biggest loss in the world anyway Grin

Thank you Soub Smile

I just really don't get it when people go to the papers over stuff like this!
Throw the filthy worn out toy away!

That's just what Sophie looks like on the outside after a few years.

Yep!

When some of my toys grew mould on it because Ds likes throwing his beaker in the toy box Hmm, I didn't go to the papers with a warning, I just binned it

All toys do that!
Jeez what a non-story!
Has she never had a rubber duck? They're terrible for it.

Certainly strange that this has become such a big story but I also find it strange that a plastic toy giraffe has in itself become such a phenomena.

Could someone please explain to me what is so special about Sophie?

Am I the only one who thinks that's an odd thing to give a child to chew on? Dogs have "chew toys", what happened to teething rings? Feeling very out of touch not currently having any babies around.

But yes, oddly enough if you put your mouth all over something with an air hole it will get like that. How could she expect anything different?

Ok so forgive me as I've never had Bath toys before and don't read instructions..
We have a Sophie giraffe and I've washed it in soapy water.
Is mine going to be mouldy inside and is there anything I can do? It's only been washed half a dozen times as it's new.
I feel a bit of a fool for not knowing about submerging squeaky toys in water! Blush

Isn't Sophie the sort of thing you would only expect to be used for six months or so anyway? I think I would replace that sort of toy six monthly anyway if needed longer because of the drool.
