How is that motivating? Grin

There will be lots of posters saying, "I feel ENORMOUS when I get over 100 pounds". What's important is what you want.

Start moving. I have a friend who is over 250 pounds who runs three times a week. She's feeling better and losing weight but more important, she feels better about herself.

What is your dream of what you want for your body? Weight loss, feeling fit, running up stairs, keeping up with the kids?

I'm not sure anyone here can answer that, but the NHS BMI calculator should give you some idea.

I'm your height (ish). I did weight 14 stone. I now weigh around 10 stone 4.

Move more, eat less (easier said than done I know).

I'm the same height and weight 9 stone. I'm a size 8. At 9 and a half stone I'm a size 10 if that helps you.

I think YABU because there are people with all different body shapes etc so not sure how we can tell you what you should weigh as strangers on the internet. You could start off with a healthy weight chart (not BMI) and see what weight range they recommend is healthy, but really I think that as you lose weight you will come to a point when you feel healthy and comfortable and the weight loss may plateau, and that is your ideal weight - a weight your body chooses, not anyone else. It's your body after all!

I am that height and weigh 10 stone 4lbs. So as I would like to be a bit trimmer I am going to say that you should be 10 stone (as should I) having said that I have a friend also this height who is closer to 11 stone and much much slimmer than I am. She's a size 10 whereas I am a 14 flavoured 12.

i am just about 5'6" and weigh 150 lb (or 10.7 st).

for me ideal weight is probably about 140lb (10 st) - blaming move and stress at home for the extra 10 which i gained after moving. whenever i've been less than 140lb, people started noticing and commenting that i looked a little too skinny.

i wouldn't say i look fat, just a little soft in a couple of places, and when we've discussed weight other women i know have been extremely surprised that i weigh so much. also, the different body types thing is true - i would definitely say in general i'm "big-boned".

I'm 5'5 and iirc nhs site says my healthy weight range is just under 8st to just under 11st, or thereabouts. So wherever you feel healthiest within about that range, I suppose.

Depends on your build OP- I'm no skinny but can weigh 12.5 -13 stone at the same height as you and comfortably fit into a size 14 and even 12 in some places!

I do carry a lot of weight on my lower legs though :-( having a DVT in one didn't help, so I don't parade round in short skirts. I am mid 40s tho!

11 stone and no more. gets you just into the tippy tippy top of the green weight. that is still carrying around quite a bit extra fat though. mainly round my tummy

5'7 here, usually between 8-9st I'm a size 8-10, but I'm quite small boned Grin I think it really depends on your frame, and what weight you best look and feel. My much shorter friend looks emaciated at 9st, yet I look a bit chunky despite being much taller. Makes no sense!

PineapplePen · 17/01/2017 00:13

I'd be happy if I got down to 11 stone at the same height! I'm er quite a lot more.... :(

About 9 1/2 stone, maybe 10?

Report
Destinysdaughter · 17/01/2017 00:16

I'd say ten stone would be a reasonable weight for you.

Report
ferriswheel · 17/01/2017 00:16

Wow. 11 stone is still fat? Really? That is depressing. I can't imagine being less than 10 st 5. What clothes size would that be?

Anywhere between 8 and 10 stone depending on your build. Bit more if you are well muscled as it weighs more

Report
jasonapple · 17/01/2017 00:22

10.5 would be a size 12.

I'm about 10.3 and a size 12.

Hard to say.

I weight a lot. When I was size 10 I weighed 11 stone on the nose and I am 5' 6". No one believed me! The nurse at the doctors took me to another room as she thought the scales were wrong. I must have bones made of lead or something!

My DD is almost the same height as me and is size 8 and 7.5 stone...so go figure.

So as a result I dont work on weight but on inches/clothes sizes.

Report
PyongyangKipperbang · 17/01/2017 00:25

I should add to that though....at size 10 I look thin, unhealthily skinny so its probably to do with my build as I dont think I could be a size 8 without being really ill.

Report
StillMedusa · 17/01/2017 00:27

Same height here, 9 stone 7 and tbh look a bit podgy... I'm usually 9 stone 2 and a size 10. My size 10s are a bit tight at the moment!

However I am blaming meds and the menopause ..and wine!

I'm exactly the same height as you with (for context) an athletic build (shoulders slightly broader than hips, flattish stomach, any excess weight goes on hips and thighs).

Personally I feel best between 9.5-10st (which for me is a size 8). Below 9.5st I start to get a little gaunt in the face and also get that skinny upper chest where you can see the bones - I'm 43 though so if you're younger you could probably get away with it. Above 10st I get a little bit of a hip shelf. I therefore let myself free float in that range- it does go up and down a fair bit due to my exercise and boozing ratio Grin

However, it's a bit meaningless as my friend is the same height, weighs less than 9 stone and is the same size as me. A Crossift friend of mine weighs close to 11stone, shorter and would have lower body fat (she is totally jacked though).

I always think we should chuck the scales and just look i a full length mirror.

It's interesting that so many of you know what your friends weigh.
Apart from my sister I have NO idea what my friends weigh.

Take it one step at a time. Look to lose half a stone or a stone, or drop a dress size. Then focus on the next.

Trying to predict things like this just doesn't work. I am 5ft 3 and 9.5 stone but wear size 6 or 8 clothes. I know other people similar height and weight but wearing size 10 or 12.

Mindtrope · 17/01/2017 06:27

Same height as you OP. I weigh 9st3lb.

Any more and I would feet tubby. But then I accumulate fat around my stomach. Some women carry it around their bum which I think looks much more attractive and curvy, but not the way my body works.
I would feel very uncomfortable at 11st.
