I am living in a nice new build area, it is not rural though but near to the semi rural areas around. Mix of immigrants (mainly indian and chinese, EU) and majority is white British. I myself is an indian immigrant. As all new builds, a few houses are council tenants, white british only. By all standards it is a very nice area, but we had many many incidents of trespassing, leaving garbage at main door, destroyed newly planted hedge, scratching cars, leaving dirty nappy at garden entrance, ringing doorbell runaways etc. These all done by children (as young as 3 upto 18 year olds and young adults) from council houses (seen them doing it!), they have been given warnings by police but no improvements. Now we don't even report it! We were told by another neighbour that council tenants don't like well settled immigrants (with cars and houses) and hence they keep doing it. It is never done to white british households around us. We tend to ignore it all assuming they are the people who don't know any better.
Anyways, we are trying to move up the property ladder and finalised a house in a semi rural leafy area. Upper middle class area, super nice swanky houses and no social housing for miles. All the residents own their houses and fields and horses and RRs, settled there for generations, family money, all white british.
I am bit worried that what if they don't like an immigrant moving in there and we face similar situations there? They definitely won't throw garbage but then what could they do? We have no reason to believe that it will happen but I couldn't be able to ignore if it does. Wouldn't be able to ignore it because those people do know better. But after Brexit and Trump, I am afraid nobody likes idea of immigrants settling. AIBU?
