AIBU?

To be so embarrassed?

Went out for a few drinks with a friend from work last night. I'm on a health kick ATM so didn't really eat many carbs that day and the alcohol hit me in a big way. We drank a lot as we were cskebrsting something (double shots, cocktails, shared a bottle of wine) and I wish I had asked her to stop - anyway apparently I started acting like I was crazy - laughing hysterically for a long time (for no reason!), staring into space, running off... she had to put me in a taxi and apparently I kept touching my face and speaking gibberish! I'm obviously extremely embarrassed and now feel paranoid too about whether I unknowingly took something?? I don't know how I can face her at work now either. I've seen her drunk and we've been drunk together before but I hate putting people in the position where they have to take care of me. Was thinking of buying her some chocolate or something to say sorry?

I wouldn't worry too much - most people have been there at least once!
The amount you drank being ridiculously drunk would be a natural response however all the stuff about touching your fave etc. is a bit odd. If you think there's a chance you've been spiked then I'd suggest going to the GP if you can get an appointment today - alternatively a WalkIn centre, to ask for a blood test.

She's your friend so just send her a thank you text and say you feel a chump. Has happened to us all. So long as it's not a regular occurrence I sure she won't care. Presumably she wasn't entirely sober herself by this point?

I think the chocolates would be a nice gesture, more as a thank you for looking after me than a sorry, but I don't think you should worry. It's probably happened to her before at some point in the past.

Ahhh, good old Hangxiety.
I would just text and say sorry if I was a bit of a tit last night, I was really smashed! I will look after you next time WinkGrin.
It's fine, seriously. Just alcohol paranoia.

Ah sounds like "the fear" has kicked in. I know it well.

Really don't worry about it, I'm sure your friend will understand. The chock are a nice idea but I'm sure you're over thinking it.

Don't worry about it, she's your friend!

My friend and I went out for dinner this week, didn't drink as she's doing dry January. We got to talking about a mutual friend and her being drunk. The only reason we spoke about her was that when's she's drunk she is MASSIVELY aggressive, think throwing drinks over people, arguing with random strangers (that have allegedly said nasty things that no one else hears!) and throwing glasses. I had a bad experience on my own with her.

Anyhow, we both were saying we absolutely never had an issue with anyone else being totally smashed. If they are happy, sleepy, sad or funny drunks. It's a non issue. The only drunks people don't like are aggressive ones.

I've been in your position (in my youth) and cone Monday, 10 minutes after you've seen here, you'll feel fine. You've got a hangover and everything is out of proportion.

I agree, don't overthink it. You got home safe and there is no harm done. A thank you text would be nice and next time try to remember to eat some carbs and drink some water.

You wish you'd asked her to stop?? Did she hold your nose and pour it in?

No, the OP is not blaming her friend, but she wishes she'd asked her to stop!

Why should she have asked her friend to stop, her friend isn't the one who got shit faced! grin]

You have a severe case of 'the fear'. A quick text should suffice, don't grovel or over-do the embarrassment act when you see her. Move on breezily and if it's ever referred to just laugh it off in an unhysterical manner casually.

She wishes her friend had asked her to stop. Not in a passing the buck way, just one of those things you wish when you've got the fear.

Oh wait that's not what she said. oh well
