To want The Animals of Farthing Wood to go back on telly?
(106 Posts)Does anyone remember this series? It was shown in the 90's on BBC when I was a child.
It tackles some very adult (and topical) issues in a suitable way for children and is dramatic and funny. My girls got it for xmas and they are gripped!
Ohhh I loved the animals of farthing wood!
It's on Netflix isn't it? OrNow TV maybe?
Yanbu
It was my favourite as a child.
i loved watching it after school! forgot about that. Do you remember a programme where the girl had a 50p she woukd rub and get a wish? I had a dream about that the other day!
I loved Animals of Farthing Wood!
My brother collected the magazines too, his bedroom furniture was covered in the stickers.
Weasel was my favourite.
Gosh yes. And the queens nose, and maid Marian and her merry men. All amazing!
Was it called The Queen's...nose or something!?
xpost! I didnt imagine it then!
I've got a few animals of farthing wood books. I loved the tv series.
Just looked on Netflix but no
Yes! And I remember the 50p show - it was The Queen's Nose I think.
Also I still dream of having a Bernard's Watch...
Oh yes! I love it. It would be great to have it back on tv.
Oh I adored Farthing Wood. I had a sticker book with the reusable stickers so you could recreate scenes over and over again.
Also loved the Queens Nose and The Demon Headmaster.
Ds2 is currently working his way through the books and TV series of Goosebumps thanks to charity shops and netflix
Yes! I loved it as a kid, collected all the magazines every week until I had hundreds of them. I'd love to watch them all again.
The Worst Witch was a favourite in our house
I loved it. I was very tempted when saw the whole series on dvd at sainsburys
I loved that and also Captain Planet - I think it was on GMTV or whatever it was called then.
I tried to get the dc to watch grotbags and emu and the adventures of t-bag recently, they weren't impressed!
Omg, you can get DVDs of it now? Finally!!
Badger
I'm still upset about it.
YANBU - one of my faves. I loved it. I remember crying a lot at it though
I'm actually relieved it's not on Netflix as I Father Christmas acquired it for the princely sum of £25 for the girls me.
It is a bit tearjerking but imo that's a sign of a well written production. I find lots of stuff being made nowdays is kind of obvious or one note with no depth.
We're all poorly and watching it today. The evil White stag is trying to force the Farthing Wood animals out of White Deer Park because it's "called White Deer Park not Weasel Park." Very apt in today's current political climate.
I remember the magazine too and the stickers!
Demon Headmaster was also my fave, read all the books. Must buy those and the Farthing Wood books for the girls.
Aragorns I've literally been wanting it on dvd for years. Amazon has it.
It actually reminds me a bit of The Walking Dead iyswim. The animals.find a safe haven...only to realise it's not as safe as they thought.... amd rinse and repeat.
I also had a child crush on Fox
YANBU bloody loved it as a kid....scurries off to find it online!
myfanwy Captain Planet was awesome! I even had the video game but you couldn't save your progress so I was stuck on an endless cycle of completing level 1 and 2 and then instantly dying on level 3.
All together now...
Captain Planet, he's a hero...
Oh my god, I would re-watch Animals lf Farthing Wood if it was on. I loved it SO MUCH.
I remember some of it being quite adult and gory... do they allow that stuff on childrens TV now?
