AIBU?

To think there's a special class of motorist...

.....who's a 'bit' more entitled than most.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-38568000

Why is it always middle aged men who do this sort of shitty, entitled bollocks?

Why do people have to live up to the stereotype??!

Boy racers, drug and drink addled younger drivers (male and female), inept elderly motorists who mistake accelerators for brakes and then middle aged men, who think they know best, are the best drivers and they own the fucking roads.

Nicholarse has a mate.

The story. they describe uhim as 'the offender', so its an offence to tamper with an ambulance. I did not know that. But I'm not daft enough to try it and find out.

This happened to a poster on here once.
I'm astonished there are two people that cunty in the world.

Today we saw a lady coming round the roundabout, correct lane and indicating. A man went to pull out, stopped, gave the woman an evil and then gestured to wave her on as if he was somehow doing her a favour Confused

I suspect that there's a certain breed of driver, who has passed the test, developed bad habits over the years and because they've never been caught out, think they're good/excellent road users when, in fact, they are complete arses.

I hope that 'sentence' made sense.

Sounds a bit ageist tbh ginger

It may well be, but it always seems to be a middle aged man who, with no reason acts like an arse.

Younger drivers seem to be more reckless, stupid and 'spur of the moment', but older drivers seem to do this deliberate, cunty shit.

Can you imagine a 'boy racer' in a baseball cap doing this?

When we were on a major road last summer we passed many cars full of young women presumably on the way to a well known festival. Many of the drivers (with several passengers) were on the phone.
It's shocking to see. DH was driving btw before anyone wonders why I was lòking.

Still ageist and not acceptable ginger.

50 I read OP as "Look we stereotype the young and old drivers but the middle group can be trouble* so in a sense rebutting ageism.

You can't accept that you 'may well be' ageist and then excuse it as just a stereotype

Report
Gingernaut · 11/01/2017 02:05

Thanks ExplodedCloud.

While many middle aged and older drivers wouldn't dream of texting whilst driving, they have their 'little ways'.

Too many act like they own the road.

Waiting in an ambulance outside my house while my daughter was being triaged my neighbour banged on the ambulance door to ask them how long they'd be because he wanted to ' go out' ( his drive was blocked). After we left being bluelighted to hospital OH saw him go out and return very quickly, likely only popped out to buy himself a soul.

That must have been dreadful.

Do you still live there?

Yeah. Plus even though we have had conversations when he has parked so we couldn't get out and stressed because of DDs medical condition sometimes we need to get out fast he still sometimes parks awkwardly. OH overheard him telling a mate he does it to piss us off on purpose. Knob.

I'll add the lorry driver who decided last night to cross the forth road bridge when it was closed to high sided vehicles, toppled over and now bridge closed in both directions. Tit

Why is it always middle aged men who do this sort of shitty, entitled bollocks?

Why do you feel this is an okay stereotype to make?

Why is it often people who make comments like this who cry 'sexism' several times a day and live in fear of microaggressions.

It may well be, but it always seems to be a middle aged man who, with no reason acts like an arse.

Or the school run mums who park across people's drives or think possessing a pram the size of a Vulcan bomber they can't be arsed to fold means they get priority over wheelchair users as they were there first or their handbag needs a seat to itself despite people standing up on the train.

Selfish arseholedom knows no sex or age boundaries.

The arsehole women parking on other people's drives, the just popping in to the shops for 'a minute', the 'I saw that parking space first' crowd still wouldn't dream of releasing the hand brake of an ambulance to get to a parking space, would they?

It's a similar mentality: my needs trump everyone else's and I don't care who I inconvenience. The person whose drive they are blocking could be a doctor on call, the person could lose their job as they are late for work.

As I say, different flavours of arseholery, perpetrated by both sexes.
