This post (which is the post written 9 hours ago on the timeline about customer service) has got me really fired up! So as not to be rude about an entire nation would it not have been better to have just written that she was no longer going to be selling to Brits because of issues with the customs charge rather than rant on about our boring taste, arrogance etc Or am I being unreasonable and she is absolutely entitled to air her grievances in this way?

I definitely think she could have worded it better! I have heard recently that there's been a load of dread hate groups targeting dread companies such as this with fake reviews so maybe that's also got her back up.
I don't like but understand her point about customs, I work in shipping and even my customers who have worked in the industry for years never know customs procedures so how will an ordinary member of the public? The hmrc website is a nightmare at the best of times!

Anyway I think she's a bit rude!

She's nuttier than squirrel shit. And yes, completely unprofessional.

Pretty much everything on FB is unnecessary and rude in the extreme - just don't go there.

She sounds like an arse. I wouldn't order from her again (no matter whether it was the UK or any other country she was having a go at)

Her choice not to shop to UK because of customs, no problem.

But her attitude stinks!

Someone has rattled her cage regarding feedback, obviously. Not sure why folk do buy from the States because of the charges though.

Yes, she should have just posted 'due to problems with customs and shipping I will no longer accept orders from the U.K' her rant was ridiculous.

Having worked in customer services for 15 years, I do think that British customers are amongst the most rude and entitled. so it wasn't very professional for her to write about it, but I don't think she's lying :D

I agree, I don't know why you would buy from the states but I think some people just genuinely don't know they will be charged customs, I can understand she's probably had a few idiots going on at her about it but writing all of your reasons why brits make shit customers is hardly the way forward and IMO just makes you look like a twat!

Fake dreads apparently Hecate not sure why, the mind boggles! I stumbled across the post from a forum about ETSY as we both have shops, not sure I would expect to have many customers after writing that sort of bollocks!

That's a vile post. Completely unacceptable. I'm glad she's already alienated two people.

I thought dreads were associated with a sort of hippy, peace, one world image. So this self indulgent out pouring goes against that ethos Grin.
Anyone that writes it is SUPER extra not my problem has lost my respect I'm afraid.

I can see her point TBH. Although all she needed to say was that she would no longer take custom orders for UK customers. The rest is distracting and makes her look odder the longer it continues.

so what? why are you even bothered OP Confused

What if an American living in London wants to order?! Or a British person in the states? How will she police this madness?!

Wow, spectacularly poor display.
I have an Etsy store too and there are a LOT of idiots asking ridiculous questions and complaining about insane things (more are on eBay though) but that's part of running a business. You don't go slagging off your customers on social media.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 09/01/2017 14:28

Well I'm guessing that OP wanted to order some fake dreads or a silicone shell bikini (now catering for larger cup sizes) from the new range and lives in the U.K.? Grin

she does go on a bit, scanned the length and can't justify wasting my life reading all of it, when i'd rather read stuff on mn and try to help nicer people

Report
bollocksybollocks · 09/01/2017 14:36

Wow I didn't know that silicone shell bikinis were on offer, now I really am gutted!

The post bothers me because it's easy to make a choice for your business without being offensive and the rudeness just kept coming! anyone who rants like this about any group of people would bother me!

This is some bizarre customer service. It wouldn't have been an issue if she'd just stopped doing custom order for the UK, and if it ever came up, just saying it was a mixture of fulfilment issues and customers not realising the import tax was so high.

Job done, nobody insulted and nobody sounding unhinged...

Number 3 was especially er... peachy.

I really hate the Americanism (?) of saying super rather than really/very.

I'm not sure how many people realise just how much casual anti-Brit racism exists in some parts of the US - in that context it's easy to understand.

Just have a think about how Brits are portrayed in almost every US Film where they turn up.

I might sound like I'm playing the devil's advocate but:

if you ask yourselves honestly and genuinely, would you feel as negative towards the business if the rant was about the Germans or the French being really shitty customers? How many of the pearl-clutchers would just nod and add their story how ze Germans or le French are the worst customers ever?

Well, next time I'm looking for, er, brightly coloured fake dreadlocks (?!) I know where not to go...
