Given that there were lots of replies on the spending money on food thread, would anyone be interested in having a thread where you could post what you/your kids had eaten that day? Might be good for new ideas, see what people who are spending very little make which could be good for people trying to cut back etc?

If you are not interested think this is the most pointless and boring thread idea ever you could just ignore?

You first! Good idea. Following with interest. However, reading the other thread someone bought 16 apples for the same price of my 4 apples so not sure it's worth using as a guide for costing things!

We've had a great foodie week as I'm a teacher and we don't go back till Monday. Highlights have been baked seabass with lemon and garlic mushrooms and roasted sliced potatoes, huevos rancheros, and asparagus risotto. Never normally have time to do risotto!

Today:

Breakfast: huevos rancheros.

Lunch: baked potato and tuna mayo with salad.

Dinner (kids): mushroom and spinach lasagne with corn on the cob.

Dinner (us): a rare Chinese takeaway.

DS and I had porridge and banana for breakfast. Lunch for me was cheese on toast with brown sauce, DS had a ham and cucumber wrap. Dinner was Balmoral chicken for DP and I (chicken stuffed with haggis and wrapped in bacon) DS had a plain chicken breast with mash, pepper sauce, turnip, broccoli and carrots. I'm now sitting with a coffee and the last of the batch of cinnamon rolls I made yesterday.

That hot chocolate looks awesome!

I don't have kids and OH is away. I had Greek yogurt with mixed nuts for breakfast, cheese and crackers for lunch, some biscuits left over from Christmas mid-afternoon, and a homemade, very simple chicken and potato stew/soup thing for dinner. I'm now drinking a nice bottle of Cremant, also leftover from Christmas, which I expect OH will help me finish when he gets home in the next half hour or so.

I also had about thirty million cups of tea during the day, as usual.

Ok, so, I'm doing a meal replacement diet and usually eat small meals as part of that, but after the christmas excess am doing 6 wks of just products. That's another thread though.

Breakfast:
Both kids had Waitrose buttermilk pancakes with choc spread (weekend treat!) and organic milk. DH had leftover cottage pie (don't ask!)

Snacks: DS had fruit 'paws' and DD had a couple of Nairns fruity oat biscuits.

Lunch: kids and DH had roast chicken, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, mini sausages, carrots, green beans, broccoli and gravy. DS had fresh mango and grapes for pudding, DD had none. Water to drink.

Snacks: no idea what DS had as he was with DH. DD had a small pack of hula hoops and a fruit 'yo yo' before gymnastics, and a couple of Nairns fruit oat biscuits and a cheese and bacon pretzel from KNOT (£3.50!!) after gym.

Dinner: DH and DS had wraps with leftover chicken, cucumber and cheese. No pudding. DD had ham and cucumber wrap, then fresh mango and grapes followed by a treat from her box. (Both kids have a treat box which has choc/sweets from christmas/easter/Halloween depending on time of year and also from party bags- I don't buy anything for this box so if it's empty for a while so be it!

They only drink water in between meals ocassionally DD has milk which is only organic.
