To cry into my coffee after a failed nights sleep.

So sick and tired of no solid sleep. I'm a light sleeper as it is and live on a main road so the noise pollution already disturbs me. Being constantly surrounded by noise does my head in, DD14mo has decides these last 2 weeks to wake every half hour. Couple that with "d"h snoring I'm getting next to no sleep! I'd escaped to my nans for the night as her house is blissfully peaceful, only to be tossing and turning all night and ending up watching the sun come up. I'm going to finish my teary coffee now.

Flowers for you Mrs A. Sleep deprivation is torture.

A small thing that mgiht help - silicone earplugs. These drown out traffic noise and DH heavy breathing, but I can definitely still hear the children through them.

Obvs doesn't help with your DD's regular waking. I co-slept with one of my twins when she was doing this. The phase passed, she's back in her bed.

We co-slept since she was a month old due to breastfeeding , I'm feel stressed just thinking about going to bed now because I know Il be fighting to get some sleep. It's making me resent them both for snoring away when I can't Blush

8 week old post immunisation here and so grumpy and teary all night with temps drinking small amounts very slowly... all with a background chorus of his dear sister coughing, wimpering in her sleep and grinding her teeth so loud we could hear it in our bedroom. Feeling your pain and currently sat in Starbucks with 8 week old drinking a coffee in peace because he's sound asleep in his car seat.

Absolutely understand the resentment.

Can your DH do more in the night to help you?

How old is DD?

Over te counter sleeping tablets help me. They don't knock me out per se but when I do wake up in the night I can get back off quite quickly.
I've just had a really shite night. DD who's 3 and in our bed has a cough, DH snored like a pig with a chainsaw and I have a painful back/pelvis that had me in tears. Luckily DH is off today so I'm going to try and get some sleep now whilst he child wrangles and hoovers. FlowersBrew

Second vote for earplugs. There's a website called snorestore which sells loads of different kinds and you can get a selection pack of different types to find which works best for you.

MrsA it's the pits isn't it? I have a long, lingering tickley dry cough and I'm waking almost every 90mins cough cough coughing.

Meanwhile 11mo DD and 37yo husband snooze contentedly. This has been the status quo for the past four nights. Couple that with packing in the fags and massively calorie counting I'm a wreck.

I can't sleep without my earplugs (DH snoring).

For coughing, try sleeping on a wedge pillow. Just being a little propped up can be helpful. I use one all the time as I have a lung condition already.

Get a good cough suppressant from the pharmacist (something stronger than the usual over-the-counter stuff).

Re heavy traffic - I know this would cost a fortune but I think TRIPLE glazing would be amazing. I stayed overnight at friend's flat in Hendon once. I was shocked at how busy it was outside (I am a country bumpkin) and assumed I'd be getting no sleep that night. It was completely silent indoors. I was amazed and she told me it was triple glazed!

DD is 14 months old

DH cant do much of a night as I'm still breastfeeding(weaning now) he also works night shifts every so often so there's no particular routine however we do have a better evening routine when he's at work.

I'm just accepting I'll never have my own bed and solid sleeeeeeep

It's so hard when you're sleep deprived.

Do you feed her lying down?

Sometimes when you accept that she'll keep waking for feeds it can be a little bit easier to deal with if you can just feed and try and get back to sleep, rather than getting stressed that's she's woken up again/checking the time/trying to settle without boob, etc.

I know it's easier said than done but I found that once I just accepted it and stopped stressing over the wake ups, I got a much better sleep. I just put a boob in and dozed a bit then eventually learnt to go back to sleep straight away. After a few weeks, I couldn't even tell you how many times baby had woken up through night. It was something I had to 'learn' though.

I know it might not work for everyone and you've got to find what's best for you but may be a idea.

I'm in the no sleep / crying in the coffee club with twin boys 7 months - waking each other up every half an hour bloody exhausting. Sad

Littledinaco that's exactly the same advice I've given to people! We've been fine since 8 weeks, I fed her laying down and had mu box of snacks and drinks to see me through the night. I'm just fed up recently because we've all been sick and I've had next to no sleep due to nocturnal projectile vomiting. Generally she sleeps through the night and will only just stir for a feed but lately she's been waking wanting to play. I've put it down to sleep regression, the days are getting longer so I'm trying to hang on to the dark mornings where I feel like I'm getting a longer sleep than usual. All in the mind eh...

Littledinaco just have to say again how word for word I've said the same thing to people!

My thoughts are with everyone going through it for the first time, it does get better! Just expect to have random "I can't do this" moments even when everything's going wellFlowers

It's so hard when you're right in the middle of it, totally get the 'I can't do this' moments!

I'm sure you're DD will go back to sleeping better soon, I think they do all go through bad phases for whatever reason. You'll get through it though Flowers
