Today I recieved a parcel from a nc relative who doesn't seem to have quite got the message. Every year I get a passive aggressive christmas card which I duly ignore. Now I have a box. I've been informed by another relative it's a birthday gift. Do I open it? Send it back? confused

Patriciathestripper1 Thu 05-Jan-17 19:42:27

Open it then re seal it and send it back grin

You can do whatever you want to do with it but don't send it back.

Banana25 Thu 05-Jan-17 19:44:11

You are being completely unreasonable. You didn't include a photo so we can all waste hours guessing what's inside.

haveacupoftea Thu 05-Jan-17 19:44:27

Open it and tell us whats in it grin

Hopefully not a dog poo or something.

dylsmimi Thu 05-Jan-17 19:46:27

Y are utterly unreasonable if this turns out to be another Victorian safe!!

But if you think the parcel will make you feel awful then return it. If it's just going to be a crappy gift then open and return it

FrutiFlutey Thu 05-Jan-17 19:46:52

I'd open it and then return it

dylsmimi Thu 05-Jan-17 19:46:55

Or open and bin it

Dogivemeabreak Thu 05-Jan-17 19:47:04

Don't send it back, that's "contact". Tell the other relative that you just threw it in the bin.

Then come on here and tell us exactly what was in it grin

I went NC with my entire family end of november and worried what i'd do in this situation if i got a christmas card. Thankfully none of them sent one, was awkward for my sister opening presents from them all with me there though. If you wouldn't keep the gift anyway regardless what it is, i'd send it back unopened. I wouldn't ever keep something off someone i was NC with, and it would likely anger me to see what it was anyway as knowing my family it would be something completely useless to me and i'd get wound up because their complete disinterest in contact or knowing anything about me is why i went NC.

Obligatory photo

BlueFolly Thu 05-Jan-17 19:52:40

Open it.

Tell us what it is.

Take to charity shop/put in bin.

pipsqueak25 Thu 05-Jan-17 19:53:18

just open the bloody thing, put us all out of our misery then we can all go back to other important stuff on aibu [i'm just nosy] grin

pipsqueak25 Thu 05-Jan-17 19:54:08

nice photo queen i'd love a box like that smile

stayontrack Thu 05-Jan-17 20:00:28

Open it! But don't send it back and don't contact them. You are NC after all and it will annoy the hell out of them that they don't know whether you received it, opened it, kept it etc

QueenMortifauxcado Thu 05-Jan-17 20:00:55

All of your answers make sense. I don't know what to do. On the one hand I'm as curious as the rest of you. On the other if I open it then I have an awkward gift to deal with.

talksensetome Thu 05-Jan-17 20:01:48

Can you give it to someone else (DP maybe?) To open and vet the contents?

LadyGlitterSparklesSeriously Thu 05-Jan-17 20:01:50

Bet it's family photos. Bet it is.

QueenMortifauxcado Thu 05-Jan-17 20:01:59

Tempted to send it to pipsqueak grin

Tomorrowillbeachicken Thu 05-Jan-17 20:03:04

It's not dangerous, is it?

QueenMortifauxcado Thu 05-Jan-17 20:04:22

LadyGlitter the Christmas card always has cringey family photos on grin

pipsqueak25 Thu 05-Jan-17 20:05:44

queen me ! me ! me ! please send it to me!!!!! grin
go on, go on go on , open it then charity / bin it if it's tacky

Ilovecaindingle Thu 05-Jan-17 20:06:01

Small horses head??

InterchangeableEmma Thu 05-Jan-17 20:06:24

Give it to the other relative you mention in the OP to deal with. NC is NC. I think you are being tested.

QueenMortifauxcado Thu 05-Jan-17 20:06:53

I don't think it's dangerous. Feels like it could be fabric of some kind but inside a box so not sure.
