Party is next Saturday. I sent invites out to my dds school friends today. Not had one response yet. I know it's only a day but I would have expected 1 or 2 parents to have responded by now. When do you respond to rsvp to party's.

sooperdooper Tue 03-Jan-17 21:28:19

It's not even been 24hrs, chill your boots I wouldn't have replied yet smile

pipsqueak25 Tue 03-Jan-17 21:31:15

i used to reply the same day invite was received, but that is me - very organised, - give it a day or so, but why did you send invites out so late ? it is a bit short notice if it is this weekend, sorry if i read that wrong.

Gizlotsmum Tue 03-Jan-17 21:33:33

Honestly? I would need to check diary, plans with hubby and whether child wanted to go.. so wouldn't respond today, probably would remember at the weekend

bloodyteenagers Tue 03-Jan-17 21:33:41

I haven't even had a chance to check the child's bag, well ask the child if they have anything in their bag and they are now in bed.
If I remember in the morning, I will ask then, if not it will be after school tomorrow.
i am sure I am not the only one. First day back to school and routine.

To clarify party is the 14th. Invites sent on the 1st day back at school after Christmas

300barsrest Tue 03-Jan-17 21:35:32

Mine went out before school broke up. School's back tomorrow, party's on Saturday. 4 out of 10 have replied 😬

Believeitornot Tue 03-Jan-17 21:37:55

That's not much notice - 2 weeks? So they might be able to make it.

I'd give it a few days then chase up responses.

Trifleorbust Tue 03-Jan-17 21:43:00

You really haven't given much notice of the party.

Smilesaplenty Tue 03-Jan-17 21:46:43

Maybe they haven't seen the invites? I know a few of mine have turned up in s pocket somewhere. Maybe they're just going to after they've sat down or see you in the morning? Hope they reply soon x x

icelollycraving Tue 03-Jan-17 21:47:29

Parties at my ds' school tend to go out with maybe 3/4 weeks notice. It's quite late so maybe you'll not get the amount of kids you were hoping for. Also, it depends on how many kids you are waiting to hear from.

icelollycraving Tue 03-Jan-17 21:48:39

Actually it's only one evening isn't it? Not many reply that quickly.

soontobemrsmckeown Tue 03-Jan-17 21:49:25

Trifle if I sent them before Christmas they would have got muddled up with school christmas cards, craft pictures and christmas school homework. Teacher adviced against sending them out before Christmas as she had a child do that last year and no one went to the party as it was forgotten about.

Christ OP, invites have been out there for what, 7 hours? You're in for a tense few days if you think you should have already had replies. It's not going to be anyone's priority for the next day or so.

bloodyteenagers Tue 03-Jan-17 21:57:58

Yea invites before Christmas are a pita.
You give them out, they get caught up in all the Christmas stuff. Then its the holidays and people forget, so you spend the next few days chasing things up. Only to find out people have forgotten or double booked.
Bitter experience.

Really....chill out. This is NO time. Some will come back this week, others next week...some not at all but they still might turn up.

HarryPottersMagicWand Tue 03-Jan-17 22:06:38

I reply the same day but I'm very much in the minority.

keekaw Tue 03-Jan-17 22:09:29

I always send mine out before Xmas. This year I had one reply half an hour after pick-up, two more that night and then the rest took one to five days to come. Dd spoke to the kids invited to remind them to tell their parents, which helped.

No reply from one child, who didn't come.

Some people are just rude so you may not get a response at all. Last party I held for DS's 5th birthday was at home. I invited 10 friends from school, I see the parents every day at pick up (although don't chat as I literally get there as they are coming out and then rush round to get older DS) and I got 1 reply. I put my phone number & email address on but still people couldn't be arsed to let me know. And I gave 4 weeks notice. 4 turned up on the day, 1 text on the day to say they couldn't make it and the other 5 acted like they knew nothing about it.

I sent out 20 or so invites for DDs party and one one person replied within 24 hours. So I think you're being hasty but it is stressful!

All but 2 replied in the end. And of those 2 one turned up anyway.

soontobemrsmckeown Wed 04-Jan-17 10:32:13

I had 2 people tell me at school today they were coming. Doesn't look like they have all been handed out yet sad hope they all go out today - it's homework day today so hope parents see them tonight.

Hygellig Wed 04-Jan-17 10:41:20

I am organising a joint 4th birthday party for my daughter and it's driving me up the wall. I had several non-replies so asked parents on the school run. Some couldn't come but others wanted to and had forgotten to reply.

If you give the invites out too early, there's a risk that people put them aside and can't/won't plan that far ahead, then lose them or forget about them (taking a photo of it on your phone would be a good idea but no-one seems to do that). Give them out too late and parents might have made other plans.

I usually reply very soon after getting the invite, as we don't go away for weekends very often. But I've found when organising that people reply in dribs and drabs up to and after the last date.

soontobemrsmckeown Wed 04-Jan-17 19:27:59

Found out tonight that still some invites haven't been handed out despite the children being in school the last two days. Would you mention this to the teacher tomorrow in passing- asking if all the invites have been handed out yet.

icelollycraving Wed 04-Jan-17 19:36:24

I think I'd message the mums who haven't responded. Are you fb friends? Could you post something on fb? That is what we do,but we have a fb year group. V handy!

soontobemrsmckeown Wed 04-Jan-17 19:39:40

I don't have them all on fb. I only know most of them by sight. I'm going to check with the teacher that all invites have been handed out and go from there. Hope I get response soon.
