AIBU?

I'm too fat and unfit for Adriene's 31 day yoga trial. :(

What can I do instead? I'm desperate to get fit.

Can anyone recommend anything? Please.

No you're not! Even if you can't do all the poses exactly as she does, it's still worth a shot. you will get better as you go along.

As of yesterday, I've been doing some from Curvy Yoga on youtube (thanks to a recommendation from another MNetter). It's very gentle, but I think it's a good place for me to start: www.youtube.com/user/CurvyYoga

Omg curvy yoga. That sounds amazing. Will have a look later when I get a minute.

I don't suppose you could tell me a bit more about it. How long is each session? How quickly did you feel the benefit?

I am unbelievably grateful. Thank you.

Im going to try danafalsetti.com/ she has a set of yoga classes to access that range in level, and as she is plus size herself it at least seems achievable :)

I'm a 16/18 short arse and I manage most of a forest yoga class despite my boobs getting in the way a lot .

It doesn't matter if you can't do some of it. A decent instructor will give you alternatives to help move towards the more difficult moves.

It's only been a day, so I'm not really feeling too much benefit! I've been doing the 15 minute morning routine video, but there are a variety of lengths on there. I'm going to do this for a bit and once I feel a bit stretchier, I'll move on to Adriene's videos.

I love yoga but it doesn't make you fitter. Yoga will improve your strength and flexibility, you need cardio for fitness. Might you be able to do some walking or swimming?

No, that's not the case at all! I am horribly unflexible but I still do yoga, though I cannot do all of the poses in my class and look silly doing many of the others. Just do as much as you can and keep at it, after a few weeks you will notice a difference in what you are able to do. Take pride in the changes your see in your abilities. Have fun!

So stick at the Adriene programme? Or choose a different one? Off to have another look...

Am also planning swimming and walking. I feel so decrepid. I'm sick of feeling crap. I need to sort it out. I'm all out of excuses.
