Smell it. I'd eat it if it wasn't furry it smelt wink

It'll be fine if it smells ok

Absolutely fine.

I've just eaten 5 day old pate and I'm still alive. DH is about to eat 5 day old cheesecake that I won't touch as it's been open too long fhmm. He'll probably survive too.

Ah ok. If I die I'll blame you lot grin

I always cut a sliver off on the edge that isn't pink anymore if that makes sense. If it is new and pink looking and smells ok then I will eat it and I am a fairly cautious sort fgrin.

I'd give hard cash for 5 day old pate right now.

I ate pate once that had been left out of the fridge and I was very ill. So I wouldn't.

Out of the fridge is just a moment of crazy though surely?

Op, if yours has been refrigerated I'd cut the end off and give it a sniff as advised by pp's then I'd go for it

Eat within 2 days of opening is to account for defective fridges and to encourage people to waste perfectly good food. Ignore and use your nose and eyes. I would almost certainly eat it.

In my experience pate looks and smells off if it is.

It's probably OK as it's been in the fridge. But one of the risks with pate is Listeria which doesn't smell or affect appearance so I wouldn't think it is OK based on either of those.
