I am! I am a teacher so I am lucky to have two weeks off for Christmas.

I am very grateful to have had time with good family/friends and time with DS and DH.

However, I have to say that I am looking forward to returning to the normal routine on Tuesday! All the visiting and entertaining had been lovely but I do find it hard work - preparing then hosting then clearing up afterwards!

DH had taken DS out today and I'm set doing some school work in peace and I'm actually quite enjoying it!

Is anyone else looking forward to getting back to normal routine or am I weird ?

Yes, as being able to do it means that the pain from my gallbladder will be under control. I too am a teacher (deputy head) and was due back in school on Wednesday, but being admitted to hospital out paid to that!

I can't work because of illness, but I'm looking forward to my household routine going back to what it was, when my DDs are in college and my GC in Nursery.

I never got time off, over Christmas (Social Care) so I've never had that feeling whilst working. I liked tidying the house and getting the tree away, though.

I'm a teacher too and have no children so I am now bored to death and want back to normality sharpish. It's cold and the telly is crap and my oh is under my feet. Plus I always miss my class during the holidays! Roll on next week!

A mixed bag of views so far but glad I'm not the only one looking forward to getting back to normality!

I've had the PILs staying since the 23rd. MIL is going home on the 1st; FIL is staying on until the engineered wooden flooring has been fitted downstairs. DH and FIL are currently making a lot of noise with some powertools. They've done the smallest of 4 rooms so far.

I'm looking forward to having my house back and some peace. The PILs are lovely people but it's hard having them around this long.

FIL's eating habits are starting to drive me insane. I'm totally being unreasonable, but I can't help it. He eats noisily (jaw clicking, mastication noises) and he tends to cut everything on his plate up and mix it all together, no matter how incompatible the elements. I was really irritated watching him stir his salad into his lasagne yesterday.

I never particularly wanted to get out of normal in the first place. I am however enjoying the almost total lack of traffic on the way to work.

Yup. Bored stiff now and we still have the bloody New Year shut down to get through.

Absolutely . All the visiting makes me really anxious . I'm definitely ready to go back to my happy introverted self. 2 more family things to get through ... give me strength

No, YABU! The thing I love about the holidays is the lack of routine Xmas Smile

No kids clubs, having PJ days, bacon sarnies for brunch...love it.

Agree with TheSnowFairy. We have no work, no school, no extra curricular activities...amazing.

We're having a PJ day today until 5pm then getting dressed and going out for dinner. We've had chocolate for breakfast and devilled eggs for lunch. We've played board games, the kids have chased each other around with their new crossbow nerf type things for an hour and we're just putting a film on for the afternoon.

My house look likes an absolute bomb went off but fuck it, that's January's problem Grin

Already back at work and the 12 hour days are already grinding me down. On the bright side - traffic is so quiet in the mornings Smile roll on 7pm and a long weekend!

Yes and no. We have our own routine in the holidays so that wards off boredom (I hope). Just things like going for walks and bike rides, reading, watching films, playing board games, etc.

I'm looking forward to getting back - I don't like lack of routine, worrying about whether there will be fallings out between relatives Hmm, crowded shops, other people's expectations about when you will visit etc.

I actually like "boring" routine! Grin

Yes can't bloody wait, we have been staying at my parents and in laws and it's been terrible for routine and waistlines! Going to hate getting up early again but such is life!

I'd like another week off. It's back on the Hamster wheel again until Feb half term and so non stop. I'd be happier with a three or four day week tbh and then I wouldn't care about the holidays so much.

Love the lack of routine. Spent so much time with kids and DH. Been cooking loads of new recipes, every day has been so nice. Dreading the back to school/work routine. Holidays always go so fast Sad

Me!

I'm sick of not knowing what day it is! I also work in education and used to seeing the date in big clear letters and numbers! Really throws me off.

I hate not being in routine, kind of just plodding around the house and napping to pass time... I know come January 3rd when I'm back at work I'll be missing it though!

No!
I'm also a teacher with two toddlers and am dreading being back at my demanding job instead of with my babies. Dreading it!

I'm looking forward to it. We've all been ill this Christmas so has been fairly low key. Everyone's enjoyed it nonetheless and I'm happy pottering about.

But I find winter dreary and the days seem so short. I am just wishing the next 3 months away as we go to portugal on 1st April for Easter.

So I'm happy to crack on with the New Year.

I'm looking forward to taking the decs down. I want to declutter. Certain bits and pieces have been just sat there since xmas day so today i sorted DD4s new toys and finally reclaimed the dinning room.

Also really can't wait to get the new year under way as this January DH and i are going to try for a home of our own and get out of renting. Very nervous but soooooooo excited! Grin
